We stayed for 3 nights at the end of march and have to say what a gem it is. Trading on its family owned period charm its location is great,union square on your doorstep and a cable car stop directly opposite and a short walk to china town all are big plusses. We had 2 double rooms 1 was slightly larger than the other but both very comfortable with big comfy beds,tv and fridge,ceiling fan and period bathroom with shower in the bath lots of hot water with good pressure and rubber ducks!.. Complimenarty cookies and apples in the mornings and the coffee machine is very good.. Not for those wanting supersmart chic but a great choice for traditional hotel charm at an affordable price..

The location of the hotel and discounted parking up the block from the hotel are very convenient. Good variety of cafes and restaurants nearby. The complimentary coffee,tee station and fresh cookies in the lobby were great. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Bedding and towels are good quality.

The mattresses in our room were so lumpy and extremely soft - you can’t just sit on the bed - need to climb up and then immediately sink in.
