"Historic hotel but rooms could use some upgrades"

8.0

We stayed here for three nights during our visit to Asheville. We were in Asheville to be tourists so we did not have time for the spa and many of the resort offerings, but we did take the audio guide tour of the history of the hotel. It is certainly an interesting place. The main hall, terrace and grounds are lovely. The only breakfast restaurant option is a buffet and that is not our thing. We did grab and go from the Marketplace one day which was nothing special so we found restaurants in Asheville. Our king sized room in the Sammons Wing was nice sized with lots of drawers and hangars for our stuff. The decor is arts and crafts or mission style as they call it but I think of it as early Holiday Inn style. The room was well maintained and the bed was comfortable. There are two chairs in the room which is nice and a desk but there is only one charging block on one nightstand. Otherwise you need to hunt for wall outlets for your electronic devices. The bathroom is small though it has a lighted makeup mirror. The shower was weird ….. when you first turned it on the water was very hot and as you gradually turned it up it was very cold. Just keep turning it higher and wait 5 minutes to get to desired temperature. We were told by the front desk that since we were staying in the Sammons Wing that the Sammons parking garage would be convenient so we chose this option over valet. Unfortunately on the weekend when there are special events, I presume, we often struggled to find a space in our parking lot. There needs to be a better system. Overall we enjoyed our stay but I would not call it a luxury hotel.

"Fantastic old building with great history, but be prepared for high prices"

9.0

The hotel itself is gorgeous with fantastic views. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food at the restaurants throughout the building. Do not miss the elevator tour behind the fire with Jimmy!

Everything is very expensive. The spa costs over $200 per person per day, in addition to your hotel booking, and must be reserved well in advance. The rooms are very dated, and the hotel is well overdue for a renovation. At check-in, we were warned that there might be scaffolding outside our window, which we had paid extra to have a mountain view from. Rather than being a minor footnote, this warning caused real stress throughout our stay. Every day, we found ourselves anxiously wondering whether today would be the day our view got blocked, which is not how anyone wants to spend a vacation. To make matters worse, it is unclear why those rooms are being rented out at full price in the first place. Any room with a view that could be obstructed by ongoing construction work should simply be taken off the market until the work is complete. Fortunately, the scaffolding never blocked our view, but the construction chemicals made the room quite unpleasant on our last night. The newer wings of the hotel also feel out of place compared to the historic building, as they regularly host business conferences, giving the whole experience a strange vibe when you find yourself walking through a convention crowd on the way to dinner.

Everything was an excellent experience. The only thing is that I was unaware that you MUST purchase the SPA treatment in order to be allowed inside there to the pool area, hot tubs etc.. Make sure you do purchase the SPA

"Nice resort but hard to agree with cost/value"

8.0

We had a nice stay, and found the facilities, service, property and view to be very good. There is construction happening as of May 2026 so be alert to that. We booked a Mountain View room at the lower end of their price range. We actually had a “Tree View” of a massive tree 30 feet from our window. You could have a view of the mountains and sunset if you stood at the left side of the windows and looked down the fairway. At these prices we expected an actual Mountain View. The room was comfortable but dated and has seen a lot of use. As an hotel room the Omni is expensive and not a great value, but the price is not out of line for a resort. If your intention is to stay on the property and have a resort experience then I think there is value. If you just want a luxury hotel room you can do much better for a fraction of the price. Also, be sure to look at taxes and fees. You will pay state and county tax on the room as well as the resort services charge. You pay that charge regardless of the services you use. That is about $100 per night on a $500 room. That’s not unique to the Omni but still it adds up. The staff were uniformly professional so I want to be clear that we were treated well. But beyond that the facilities were just not up to the standard considering an entry level room cost the better part of two grand for three nights. That is a lot of expensive ambience

"Beautiful but details matter"

8.0

The property itself is beautiful, the service was really good when dealing directly with staff, however at this price point it’s lacking in other areas. Small and large details really make a difference. I’ve got Champion status and reserved 3 rooms. The coffee drop off signs were not picked up for 2 rooms one day even though I called that night to remind them. Coffee tray not taken from day before when room was cleaned or from outside the door for a 2nd room when the new coffee was dropped off. The decor and paint in room needs a refresh. Nice robes and I appreciated having 2 luggage racks as that’s rare! Food was pretty good l, but other than Edison it is quite expensive. There are cute restaurants in town that we enjoyed like Chestnut Asheville where we had a great lunch. The spa was fully booked for day passes the entire time we were there, which was disappointing as that’s one of the reasons I booked this property. I called to book about a week in advance. I’d recommend staying mid-week if you can as this hotel draws weddings and conferences, as the common area with big fireplaces to enjoy is packed and super loud with big groups. Sunday night was a welcome more relaxing time. Excellent gym! Views a 10.
