Msafini Hotel

Breakfast was great, with fresh fruits. The rooftop restaurant has a really great view of Lamu and the ocean. The rooms have a balcony area that is great to sit and relax. Especially loved the Lamu architecture.

The shower drain was slightly clogged. My experience at night with the watchman was not that great; he was not as professional and when I was trying to get back into the hotel past midnight, I was at the door for a long time before he opened.

Location is incredible and the room has a great balcony. Though the room is smaller than surrounding stays.

Room service is very slow. Laundry is very inefficient.

We didn't like anything about the hotel

We did not feel safe in the hotel due to poor electrics and a major leak. From the start things did not go smoothly as our room was not ready on arrival, once it was we discovered the bathroom sink was leaking and unusable. Workmen came after 3 hours of waiting but did not fix the problem, we discovered the bathroom and bedroom were flooding during the night damaging some personal items, we were worried about the safety as there were open electrical sockets on the walls. In addition the fan did not work properly. The restaurant was not cleared after dinner and there were crows eating the left over food from the dirty plates on the tables in the morning. Since we were unable to use the toilet during the night due to the flood and the floor being slippery and unsafe we left early the next morning. The hotel did not issue us with a fair or full refund, the owner said he did not care if we gave a bad review or posted the photos.

Spacious rooms and balconies

1) Very poorly maintained - we did not have running water in our basin (the tap was broken) 2) Breakfast was extremely slow and very average, other than the juice which was delicious 3) The swimming pool was out of use our entire stay 4) There were power issues and the hotel had no backup generator so it was impossible to sleep it was so hot as the fans weren’t working

The hotel has a beautiful balcony upstairs. My room was large with a nice balcony and bathroom. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent.

There was no hot water but it wasn’t a problem given the heat. The room was dark, and noisy in the early morning.

The swahili breakfast was delicious 😋. Loved it!
