Very welcoming and polite, I asked for a earlier breakfast which not a problem at all. Lovely room, clean and warm, everything you would need for a overnight stay was there. Very happy/rested man

The Trout Fly Guest House is an excellent base for exploring Islay. The rooms and en-suites are clean, cosy and comfortable, and the check-in/out process is easy and relaxed. Niall is an exceptional host who goes above and beyond for all his guests. Breakfast is also phenomenal. I would heartily recommend the Trout Fly to everyone booking accommodation in Islay.

This is by far one of the best guest houses that I have stayed in. The owner/manager gave us a warm welcome and his friendly and kind approach and local knowledge made both myself and my brother feel at home. The rooms were immaculate, tidy and clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and it's always a bonus to get a good night's sleep when your away from home so you are energised for your holiday. I would definitely recommend this establishment to my family and friends. Thank you. 😀

Great location, great breakfast, very clean, renovated showers, and convenient overall. Niall is very nice and helpful. Perfect choice to stay in Port Ellen as base for your Isle of Islay trip. Walking distance to Laphroaig, Lagavulin and Ardbeg.

The host was friendly and very helpful and full of helpful information and advice. The room was clean and bright, the shower was excellent. Breakfast choices were great. Best to check out eateries before you go as choice is very limited and therefore get very busy.

We are just back from this beautiful island and had an amazing stay in this lovely bed and breakfast. The welcome is incredible, a really comfortable stay and everything spotless. The breakfasts are wonderful and tasty home-made shortbread.

Wonderful place to stay. Close to ferry terminal, bus stops and a short walk to 3 whisky distilleries. The hosts were wonderful and friendly and very accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was amazing, with a good choice of cooked breakfast, with an interesting Lagavulin waffle that everyone should try at least once and the haggis was delicious. The rooms were comfortable and clean with tea and coffee making facilities in the room and homemade shortbread. Takeaways could be brought in and eaten in the guest lounge area, which was important if you left it too late to book a table at a local restaurant! Will definitely be back the next time we visit Islay.

We stayed for three nights and had a lovely stay. Our hosts were brilliant; very friendly and incredibly hospitable. Neil offered us a lift to the local distilleries and did our ironing for us! Breakfast was hearty and filling every day. The accommodation is basic but totally met our needs. Thank you for everything.
