Kyomachiya Suite Rikyu

It’s our fifth visit to Kyoto, and this house managed by the landlord gave us a very unique experience and the stay itself definitely a highlight of our trip compared to hotel stays. Location is unbeatable with closeness to major supermarkets and bus stations.

I would highly recommend this property. The location was great to stroll the Gion area and it was easy to catch an Uber for farther trips. We loved the traditional style of the house. The property was very clean and you could tell that attention was given to the decor and the products provided. The kitchen and washing machine were helpful. I really appreciated meeting the host and the sample itinerary provided was above and beyond. Thank you for making our stay in Kyoto even better than we imagined!

It's hard to find something we didn't like about the property. The only thing I would mention, is if you have trouble with firm beds, then the upstairs beds may be more firm than you are used too. The sleeping mats used on the first floor are a bit softer.

Great location. Host is really friendly. The house is tucked inside a cozy alley, with lots of tourists spots nearby.

It was a very clean and comfortable villa, and the location was very good, with all the amenities a man would need for a complete home. It was great.

The location is fantastic, and the welcome is really lovely. This is a little gem of a place. It is perfect for a small family. It is tiny and cute. It will give you a good feel of the Japanese way of life at the heart of Gion.

Everything about this stay was absolutely perfect, and it's clear the hosts pay attention to all the small details to make your stay extra special. The host put together a thoughtful recommended itinerary during our stay. We especially loved the details about how the space came to exist and its historical significance. The location is great, with easy access to public transportation. The hosts are incredibly communicative and we would be thrilled to stay again!

By far the best accommodation I stayed at during my trip to Japan. Natsuki, the owner of the Ryokan, greeted me when I arrived to show me around the place and tell me the history of the house. Every detail of the newly restored home was meticulously crafted and thought through. I even received a custom itinerary for how to spend my time in the city. The home is walking distance to major tourist attractions while itself being on a quiet street. The bed was very comfortable, and there is a great work area if you're traveling as a digital nomad or in Kyoto for a workation. I've recommended this place to several friends and family members already, and will happily stay here again on my next trip to Tokyo.

Kyomachiya Suite was everything it promised. Beautiful, comfortable, well appointed. The location was excellent - so close to so many wonderful places to eat and see, with excellent proximity to the river trail (running) and the hills (hiking). The bed was comfortable and the shower was amazing. The place was very quiet as well. Our host was very communicative and provided us with suggestions of places to visit and eat. I would absolutely stay here again. We feel so very lucky to have found this place. Thank you!
