Nayara Tented Camp

We spent four unforgettable days at Nayara Tented Camp in August and can’t recommend it highly enough—especially for families. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel at home, but two people in particular went above and beyond: Isaac and Darian. They were incredibly warm, engaging, and thoughtful—especially with our kids. They took the time to point out frogs, sloths, and other jungle wildlife, turning every drive into a mini adventure. Our son Ori absolutely adored them—he didn’t want to be driven by anyone else! The entire experience was seamless: the service was truly top-notch, the food was outstanding, and the setting in the middle of the rainforest was magical. If you’re looking for a well-rounded, luxurious family stay with genuine hospitality and connection to nature, Nayara Tented Camp is the place. We’ll be recommending it to everyone we know—and we’re already dreaming of coming back

We loved the facilities, amenities and very friendly staff. The property has so much to offer, we stayed 4 days, 5 nights and never ran out of things to do/ new places to eat and explore on property.

Ahead of time they could let us know about complimentary laundry and binocular rentals. Great amenities but not well advertised.

This resort was amazing! We had dinner at all the restaurants (except Amor Loco) and all the food was delicious. We went to Asia Luna twice and were lucky enough to have the same server Rosmer who was amazing. We went to the Sukha spa for the sacred journey treatment which was spectacular. The property is so beautiful that we did a lot of walking, seeing howler monkey, iguanas and sloths (mom and babies) but the resort provides golf cart rides which is very handy given the steep hills. The golf cart riders were amazing and one night Daniel (who goes by his last name but it slips my memory) brought us to the frog pond and showed us a bunch of frogs we’ve never seen before, it was super cool. I 100% recommend this resort and would love to return in the future.

We had a really difficult time trying something negative to say about Nayara - our tent was immaculate, the staff was wonderful and we were sorry to leave. The food was incredible at each of the restaurants we tried and there were lots and lots of wildlife to see. Pura Vida!!

Where to begin? Our journey started with being dropped off by a charter service and upon arrival, we were immediately met, bags taken, and sat down with a refreshing drink. Our host provided information about the Tented Camps and took our information. It took about an hour to get our room ready, but lunch was in the same area as reception. Ayla is outstanding – the breakfast menu AND buffet is outstanding and we enjoyed a Mediterranean lunch as we waiting for our room. The Tented Camps are on a hill so you’ll get plenty of exercise up and down hill. Take advantage of calling for the golf carts and they’ll take you everywhere. Our room was Colibri 9. It was right atop the reception area/infinity pool. Amazing view of the volcano, gorgeous room, and sprawling. The hot springs plunge pool was actually TOO hot – we asked for them to turn off the valve to cool it down (was probably 115 degrees!). The housekeeping staff does an incredible job of keeping the place looking brand new. Hammocks, outside tables, SUPER cozy beds, two window beds for our two daughters, lovely amenities in the indoor AND outdoor shower, and just an absolute awesome place to relax. As a heads up, cabins 7, 8 and 9 are close to reception so when the music is playing at the pool bar – you can get some unanticipated noise that you may have to gently ask the lobby to temper. My wife and I enjoyed a date night at the Nostalgia Wine Bar and the tapas were amazing as was the wine and folks serving us. Lyla’s Gelateria was a joy for us and the kids and delicious. Breakfast at Ayla was out of this world – the local fruits were delicious as were the acai bowls, eggs, pastries and local cuisine. Room service – they went all out to make a restaurant style meal for us for breakfast. Wandering the property was awesome. The infinity pool at reception is lovely with a panoramic view of Arenal Volcano. The flora and fauna are great – birds everywhere and sloths on property that the bellman will take you too if they’re spotted! The playground is great for littles. The hot springs are awesome and there are several on the property in a tiered fashion. There are SO many options for excursions via the concierge. They do a great job of coordinating transport, costs, instructions, advice, you name it. Our favorites were the zip lines (Sky Adventures), canyoning (PureTrek), and the Hanging Bridges/Mystico Park and La Fortuna Waterfall Hike (just incredible) through Nayara. The team at Nayara – from the lobby/reception folks, to the wait staff, to the bellman and housekeepers and beyond were the kindest, most professional, friendly and wonderful folks. We always were catered to, checked on, and learned SO much as the pride the Costa Rican locals had for their country and culture was palpable. This is a gem of a resort. It has everything – for families, kids, couples, solo, you name it. It’s in an incredible area in the heart of Arenal/La Fortuna and SO many adventures at your doorstep with paradise in between. Come here – you will cherish it!

This place is amazing. The service was best we ever experienced. Food was fantastic. Very hilly to walk around but the plants and wildlife are all around you. Yes it rains a lot, but nothing cooler than in our own heated plunge pool in a rain storm. It was a true blessing to visit this resort. The staff were truly friendly and enjoyed getting to know us. Gym , spa and yoga were excellent as well. We spend 4 days and didn’t want to leave. Have breakfast delivered to your room every morning. Wake up hit your hot spring pool and have breakfast on your deck. Also nothing more amazing than outdoor shower while either in a rain shower or hearing birds sing above you Go, yes it’s expensive but worth it.

What a great family vacation! Nayara Tented Camp is an amazing place to take your family. The service is top notch (possibly the best I’ve ever experienced), and there is so much to see and do for kids of all ages. We went whitewater rafting (which in the rainforest is a different experience than anywhere we had rafted in the States), ziplining, canyoning (rappelling down sheer cliffs next to and occasionally in waterfalls) and the hanging bridges tour. We even tried the kids spa and our youngest enjoyed the chocolate massage! Over our week there we saw so much wildlife…sloths, monkeys, Toucans, coatimundi, exotic frogs, iguanas, and even an armadillo. The food was fantastic with plenty of restaurants to choose from. And between the hot springs, hotel pools, swim up bar and our private plunge pool, there were plenty of places for the kids to have fun and get wet. It was one of the best family vacations we’ve ever taken and I’d strongly recommend it for anyone looking for a combination of great activities and 5 star accommodations.

My husband and I stayed at Nayara Tented Camp for a romantic getaway, and it was pure perfection from start to finish. The setting is breathtaking, with lush rainforest all around and a perfect view of Arenal Volcano from our private plunge pool, where we loved taking a dip and soaking it all in. We splurged on a private romantic dinner that felt truly magical and enjoyed an incredibly relaxing couples massage during our stay. The daily breakfast was chef’s kiss—delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented each morning. Every detail felt thoughtful and luxurious, and we especially loved sipping La Lloronas while unwinding in paradise. We can’t wait to come back.
