Idilic location and gorgeous place

The pictures showed a small kitchen area but that must have been a different room… no plates or bowls or anything for eating at all - not ideal

Simply beautiful house and gardens. Lovely, good-sized studio; very well equipped and tastefully decorated. Friendly and helpful owner. I will be back.

The location

As a b and b, we only had 5 pods for the coffee machine for a 2 day stay. No kitchen facility as the other room next to us had. We never saw the owners again to ask if all was OK and if we needed anything.

On the plus side the room was clean, the bed comfortable and the shower was good, however the description of the accommodation on TripAdvisor and other websites is inaccurate and misleading. I found the accommodation on TripAdvisor when searching for a B&B near Gilmerton. The photos of the property on TripAdvisor and other websites showed a lovely breakfast room and spacious bedroom. It would appear, however, that the owners have changed their business model and no longer provide breakfast, but the information on various websites in relation to this has not been updated. The accommodation we were given was simply a small room, with small double bed and shower room. No facilities for self catering, no breakfast option and room not serviced during our stay. I would not expect to pay B&B / Hotel prices for a basic room only facility.

It was more than we ever expected … gorgeous property & accomodation . Very comfortable . A quiet retreat if you want to just relax & reflect . Close to Edinburgh ( 20 minute train ride ) for a day trip from Glenarch House . Would recommend the train to Waverley station in Edinburgh . It’s a self catering property , so will need to work out meals for yourselves . Morrisons ( a supermarket) is relatively close for grocery shopping .

If there was a cooking hob , it would have been perfect .Otherwise , really nothing I did not like 😊

Location was excellent. Tucked away, surrounded by a large well kept garden making the property quiet and private. The room was a in a separate coach house annex with its own little patio area. Good coffee and tea making facilities and a small fridge.

The lock on the entrance door worked from the inside but not the outside. Needs attention. Otherwise everything was great.
