Glenarch House

Nice and quiet room. Great location, beautiful house, and premises. The host is very welcoming and even replaced the microwave for us

The room was nice but the facilities would benefit from some improvement. We spent 2 nights there during which we faced some issues with: The microwave was not functioning properly (the issue was quickly resolved by the host), and one of 3 lights in the bathroom burnt out. Almost all the food we put into the fridge turned to ice. We also spent one evening without hot water. Wi-fi was slow and unstable. Finally, there are no power sockets near the bed, so phones and laptops had to be charged elsewhere (possibly meant for a digital detox).

It was convenient with the train into Edinburgh if you had a car. Clean & comfortable.

Cold shower in the morning and the heaters went off about 8pm.

Glenarch House is in a great location, a beautiful gem close to Edinburgh. We liked that it was close to the Eskbank train station (25 mins walk) which easily takes you to other beautiful towns of the Scottish Borders. We really enjoyed the food recommendations from the host, in particular The Sun Inn, The Cavaliere and the Restoration Yard.

The quietness, the gardens, the room was amazing

There was nothing I didn't like

Superb setting and location near to Dalkeith Country Park was a bonus

comfortable room with everything you could want, in a lovely situation

Thought for the room rate, it really should include breakfast
