The Glenwood Hotel

I wish I could be more positive however this place was very poor and I do not understand how it achieves a 3-star rating. The facilities are barely functional, only one of three windows working for ventilation, no lamp or lightswitch by the bed, and a chest of drawers which look like it was purchased in a second hand store, only to open it and find mould where a drink had been spilled and never cleaned. Very poor, cautiou advised.

Really great welcome on arrival

Our room was checked in before we even arrived. Meaning we had to use a different room. The room was very hot and uncomfortable to sleep in due to having no ac or fans. The bathroom was not kept to a good standard. Missing fitments for lights. No toiletries like shampoo or shower gel, we had to source our own. We didn’t have any house keeping. We had to use the same towels, and bed sheets each day.

We travelled down late and the reception is not 24hour through the week but they stayed open so we could check in after 11pm. Half the price of the Premier-Inn which didn't offer anything more than The Glenwood.

Loved it

The hotel was fine for a night away. But it was a ok hotel in a shanty town part of Margate. That's not the hotels fault. It looks like the area would have been the place to be many years ago.

Lady very helpful and friendly at Reception.Hotel was a good walk from centre not easy to find so book a cab. I booked a single room and unfortunately due to shocking weather spent more time in my room than usual so a tv would of been good yep no tv.Room was clean and comfortable not much else to say

Good value, and decent rooms. Shower didn't really spray water - though friends said those in their rooms were fine. Shampoo or showergel in bathroom would be nice - I didn't enjoy washing my hair with soap. And curtains let in daylight so bright that I could read a book without switching on the lamp.

A no thrills hotel with a few rough edges and friendly, helpful staff. Won’t be for everyone, but at the very reasonable price I paid, there really is nothing to grumble about. Would happily stay there again.
