Vidamar Resort Madeira

Contemporary hotel in a great location. Private seafront. Beautiful views. Excellent choice of food in restaurants and generous buffet. Staff genuinely friendly and helpful: the hotel staff are it’s best asset I would say.

This is a very good hotel indeed. The staff were always helpful and courteous. The buffet food was invariably of a high quality. The rooms are spacious, with views over the ocean from most of them. The location of the hotel is within a reasonable 30min walk to the centre of Funchal, with frequent (and inexpensive) bus service from right outside the hotel. Overall, we highly recommend this hotel.

The variety of tours on the island is attractive, especially exciting was the motorbike and side car tour which we experienced. The staff was extremely helpful, particularly the Manager, Guest Experience Ambassadors, and Dining Room staff who were very solicitous and helpful with requests for a vegetarian meal, which made a welcome change.For the future, a vegetarian cheese option would also be welcome. The variety, freshness and abundance of food in the Ocean Dining room buffet was remarkable. Perhaps the piped music could be reviewed. A variety of cheery instrumental music would be preferable; much of the vocal music was dull and moreover conflicted with the sounds chatter and clatter going on during meals, imposing on one's conversation. For newcomers it was difficult to find one's way from one tower block to the other for the swimming pools -- the signage should be made clearer. The heated indoor swimming pool is much appreciated!

Ours was a long weekend stay in Madiera for in celebration of my boyfriend's birthday. Our stay at Vidamir was exceptional and we had a room with one of the best viewsl! The room was spotless, service was great, food was tasty and the facilities exceeded our expectations. Overall, hotel staff were very responsive, customer oriented and even helped to execute a surprise birthday cake, flowers with a complimentary bottle of wine at breakfast on the morning of our departure. I really appreciated the extra mile they staff went to make it a very special trip.

If you are looking for a truly relaxing holiday this is the hotel you need - what a great place, staff are wonderful and the hotel is so clean. The food is so good - something for everyone. A great place and we will return

We loved this hotel, great location, lovely facilities and really good food with lots of different options. The bar was incredibly reasonable, unlike some half board stays and the entertainment was good.

Check in was quick and staff were lovely. We had a sea view room and it was very clean. Bathroom had a spa bath. Buffet food was lovely, particularly breakfast. The dine around options were also good. pool area was lovely and spacious, always plenty of sun lounges and towels. Great holiday.

The Vidamar could easily up their standards to be a true 5 star tourist hotel. Reception service great. Waiter service by pool inadequate though and paying EU 7 for a cocktail delivered in a floppy white plastic cup disappointing. Sunbeds are rammed very close to each other. Why not use the space in front of the pool to spread them out? Food at  the Madeira rest't good but basic. Italian restaurant very good. Best to book tables for a few days in advance if you want popular times. Breakfast offering very good but queue to be seated 8 parties deep if you turned up at the most popular time with people waiting up to 10 minutes to be seated.  Need more number staff seating people at busy times as there were lots of empty tables available but only 2 staff. The system for providing coffee at breakfast needs improving.  It took over 10 minutes for the coffee to arrive even with reminders. Standard of rooms is good but need a few pictures as the walls are bare. Tired bathroom with pathetic shower. Enjoyed hol but wd look for higher 5 star standard next time.

had a lovely holiday, although weather warm but mostly cloudy. had a room on 7th floor with lovely views over the bay. room comfortable although mattress protector appeared to be waterproof which made it very warm. hotel is very minimalistic, with only one inside bar area, which offered evening live music. Funchal is probably about a 30 minute walk away with a couple of hills. overall had a lovely relaxing holiday

We were upgraded on arrival for free to a junior suite with sea view. We had a birthday whilst there and the hotel sent up a cake and bottle to celebrate. The staff couldn't do more to help and paid special attention to my little boy.
