Hyatt Centric Downtown Portland

Location and vibe. Very nice for a quick one night. Would have loved to stay longer.

Paid waaaay too much to deal with the noise disturbance of an overserved guest and poor attitude of employees unwilling to deal with him. Could here this man talking at the top of his lungs from the bottom floor all the way in my room on the 3rd floor. Employee was not only dismissive but they were actually bothered that I called down to address the issue. I was told he's a guest so all they could do is ask him to be quieter. God forbid they stopped serving him or refused service as soon as he enetered the bar.. I first encountered him while i was eating in the restaurant area and actually left because he was at a level 10 the moment he walked up to the bar. When i checked out the bartender who gladly served him stated 30years in the industry you stop noticing them yelling. Lol ookie. Then proceeded to tell me to escape the yelling while i can and to have a good night. She said it in jest, but seriously...a lot of this cpuldve been avoided had she just called it for him then. Meanwhile the man just came back into the lobby from assaulting a rando on the street in front of the hotel. I watched it from my window. I spent the money on this place to avoid this kind of drama from a cheaper place in this area. Unfortunately I avoided nothing and basically set my money on fire. Additionally there's a nightclub right next door. My bad for not seeing that. Minor compared to the belligerent guest and not really part of this review just a heads up for others that in general not the most peaceful stay.

I can’t give enough accolades to the staff at this hotel - every interaction I had was exceptional. When I walked in late afternoon on a Thursday I was greeted by Helena who was so welcoming and so friendly. When she checked me in she acknowledged my Globalist status with Hyatt and gave me an even better upgraded room than the one I was already upgraded to on the app! She was so nice and friendly! I went for a walk around the area later on and when I walked back in I had a quick question and Helena addressed me BY NAME even though I had checked in seven hours earlier!! The hotel is very cool - totally ultra-modern with a great bar for a cocktail and a snack. I was upgraded to a corner king room which was very clean and comfortable. I had a quiet and peaceful night for sleeping and really enjoyed the modern industrial style of the room. Lots of nice touches like robes and lovely toiletries. The fitness room is excellent - multiple cardio options as well as a full weight rack and bench for strength training and a multi-station machine which is a great extra. The hotel is located in a spectacular area of downtown Portland. So many cool bars, restaurants and shopping are within easy walking distance including a Whole Foods in case you need to get any supplies. They provide complimentary brewed coffee in the lobby in the morning which is so appreciated. I wasn’t able to take advantage of the full Globalist breakfast in the morning but the grab and go options they offered were plentiful and delicious. Overall I highly recommend this property - one of the best Centrics I’ve stayed at if not one of the best Hyatt’s overall for the value.

This was my first stay at this HC and it was fabulous. Every FD person was warm and welcoming and knowledgeable. The staff overall were fantastic. Breakfast was delicious and the rooms were QUIET and clean. The location cannot be beat. Jake at the FD made our stay seamless. Will stay here on every trip to Portland. I'm a globalist, stay at Hyatts around 90-110 nights/year for vacation and family travel, and was very impressed with how I was treated on this stay. The floors are concrete, it's more of an artsy kitschy type hotel, but the rooms are quiet, gym is sufficient and elevators are fast. Five stars all around!!

The space is modern and the room is well appointed with many conveniences tucked in an efficient space. I loved the black out shades and motion detected night lights. The location is ideal when visiting downtown Portland with a high walk score! Best of all, the price was so great for this high value stay!

Location was great, room and amenities were fantastic but the lack of late-night options nearby was the only negative. The staff was very helpful in locating late-night food options, but it required a trip away from the hotel by car.
