Hotel is being used for Housing!!!!!
My family and I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn in Leeds, booking a room for two adults, two children (ages 16 and 8), and our two dogs. Unfortunately, our experience was far from what we expected for the £180 we paid, and we left feeling completely let down.
Upon arrival around 8 PM, the first thing we noticed was a strong, unpleasant smell (weed). We also saw a group of people drinking outside the hotel premises, which was an immediate red flag.
Our room, 106, was located right next to the reception area on the ground floor. While we only needed it for a single night, the space was quite tight for a family of four and two dogs. The shower worked fine, but the toilet struggled to flush, which was a minor but noticeable inconvenience.
The most significant issue was the noise. Despite it being late, loud music and constant talking and laughing from the reception area kept me and the dogs awake. At around 2 AM, I went to take the dogs for a walk and found a receptionist, a person in pyjamas, and a security guard in the reception area. They were still there when I returned around 2:30 AM, with the music still playing loudly. Back in the room, the noise from their conversation was still clearly audible. My dogs' sensitive hearing also meant they were constantly alert to people walking by the door, waking us up throughout the night.
Breakfast was a chaotic experience. My wife and sons went first and found the bacon to be so overcooked it was impossible to cut. When it was my turn, I was honestly shocked by the scene. A security guard was present, and it was clear the hotel was housing a specific clientele. The dining area was loud, with children running and shouting in their pyjamas, making a mess. While my own breakfast was edible because I was so hungry, the overall atmosphere was incredibly off-putting.
It became apparent that the hotel's environment was not what one would expect from a Holiday Inn. This is information that should have been made clear at the time of booking. The hotel's location right next to a busy road also adds to the constant noise, making it difficult to rest.
For the price we paid, we feel that we got an unacceptable level of service and comfort. The issues with noise, cleanliness, and the general atmosphere made for an extremely disappointing stay.
Holiday Inn you have let us down!
