Easy access to the motorway, clean rooms, sofa bed was made up when we arrived. Early breakfast (06h30) was perfect as we had an early start, and the breakfast selection was surprisingly good. This is a great value for money stopover. The receptionist was also extremely helpful and friendly.

We stayed overnight at the Holiday Inn Express at Stafford on Friday 22nd May and it was a horrible and very disappointing experience. The trip was booked via booking.com and I was asked to confirm the booking via telephone as we were bringing our dog. I called on the day to confirm and explained we would be arriving late. I was told that the room would be ready and that reception was manned 24/7 so it wouldn’t be a problem. We arrived late, around 11;30pm, and checked in. We got to our room and as we opened the door there was a dirty earbud on the floor which the dog picked up in her mouth. Not a good first impression! I was very disappointed to see that the room had not been made up ready for us. Not only had it not been made up there wasn’t even any bedding for the sofa bed so I had to go back down to reception to ask for some. Whilst making up the sofa bed (mattress topper was still on the sofa bed as I unfolded it) I saw that there was blood on the topper. Absolutely unacceptable! I had to go back down to reception again (midnight but this time) to get a clean one. The room was very hot and seemed to have no ventilation and the windows seemed to be heating the room. As such I had to go down to reception again to ask for a fan. I also had to request towels as we had only been provided with two. The room was dirty. Along with the cotton bud there was dirt and dust all over the floor. The sink had pubic hairs in and the cups were dirty. It clearly had not been cleaned properly at all. The ‘extreme’ toilet flush was so powerful that when flushed it sprayed everywhere and distributed the contents of the toilet around the bathroom, and the person in there! The hinge on the toilet door was sticking out and scratched my wife’s arm when she walked past it. Not a good design to have it sticking out like that. In the morning, having been told breakfast was served until 10:30 am we went down around 09:45, only to find out it actually stopped at 10am.

The staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. Shower was hot and water pressure was very good. Restaurants and McD's close by.

The decor is dated. Noise ingress from the motorway. The breakfast was not nice.

Property is fine and nicely located

The cost is usually less that £100 but not sure why it went above the 100 so I didn’t like paying extra for routine basic services

Easy access off motorway, plenty of parking, breakfast and dinner available.

Lack of air conditioning or ceiling fan or blanket option.
