Hamilton Princess & Beach Club - a Fairmont Managed Hotel

Liked everything, that is why we always go back.

I need to provide feedback on my recent stay. When looking at the receipt that I was given up on check out, it’s stated that there was a $24 per day room gratuity fee. Our room was only serviced once during our stay, and we needed to request towels. I find this fee to be extremely disheartening. To note, other Fairmont properties that we have stayed at, there has always been a $30 per night credit to use at the resort. This was mentioned in my booking, however, also was not applied at this resort. Lastly, we attended the New Year’s Eve gala. We have in writing from the Fairmont staff that the event would be an open bar however it was a cash bar. When we mentioned this email, and showed it to the attendant checking people in, we were laughed at rather than assisted. This unfortunately led us to spend several hundred dollars over budget. The front desk staff, particularly Lisa, was extremely rude when we asked where certain restaurants and activities were at the hotel. She was not helpful at all. On the positives, Rafael at Intrepid, was a fantastic server. The hotel itself is quite stunning. This email above was sent to the property manager two days ago and got zero response. Highly disappointed.

Great location walkable to so much! Esp off season, this was the best place to stay

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to downtown Hamilton and being in the middle of the island. The room is very clean and bedding is very comfortable. The services are second to none. A bonus of staying at the Princess is the big collection of contemporary art displayed every where in the hotel.

Overall, we had a good experience at Hamilton Princess. There was renovation construction going on in one of the buildings that started every morning at 7 am, so if you are someone that likes to sleep in, good luck. The hotel was decorated beautifully for the holidays with even a full life size gingerbread house and moon gate. The hotel has special menus for Christmas Eve and Christmas in addition to the normal menu and the restaurants were all delicious; however I highly suggested Intrepid. Onsite there is KS Watersports which offers jet skis, boat tours, etc. and also onsite you can rent a Twizzy vehicle to drive around the island. We took advantage of both amenities onsite which were an additional cost but worth it. The convenience of those amenities was great! For the beach club, I was quite disappointed. During the winter they close down the restaurant at the beach club so make sure you take food with you if you go. There was very limited equipment (2 kayaks, 2 SUP) for the whole beach club so people had to wait to take turns and hope someone didn’t hog the equipment; the equipment also was pretty beat up with no seat in one kayak. The trash cans were completely full in the morning right when the beach club opened and the soap dispenser in some of the bathrooms were empty. There was also only one staff member onsite at the beach club. It felt like the hotel neglects the club during the winter which the club was a main reason for why I chose the hotel.

Staff were very accommodating , welcoming and professional. The restaurant Intrepid was exceptional in terms of menu options and the food did not disappoint and the service was impeccable. Our hotel room was of a quality standard and did not disappoint.

The staff and service are good. However, the hotel looks old.

Hamilton Princess Fairmont Gold is a great vacation experience! I would recommend it to everyone!
