SOL by Meliá Pelícanos Ocas

Was very apprehensive after reading the reviews but worries all unfounded. Really nice hotel, friendly staff, beautiful pool area. Breakfasts are nice and our friends on half board say the food is lovely. It's v busy all the time, check in is slow and the lifts do appear temperamental but overall been great for a short break!

Was very wary about going after I read horror stories But room was basic but clean Food was good Noise yes a few loud but out of hotels hands as mainly due to being at front of hotel which after 1st night I got used to it and didn't affect my holiday Pool is gorgeous just a little cold Luckily lifts seemed to be a issue we walked up as only on 2nd floor so again lift issues didn't affect us Over all value for what we paid snd jet2 we're overall great as a package

Everything you have to pay for a kettle €25 and an iron £25 and they only have 10 iron in the whole hotel! Staff are so rude and clearly don’t want to be there! Also wasn’t given a room with a balcony which to be fair ruined my whole stay

Staff very friendley . Room was kept clean. Food was avarage.

The noise. It was very noisy. I know sometimes its out of staff control . To prevent the noise that clients make. But it was every night. So bad i had to complain to be told it has been very noisey. But i was on the 13th floor.. the quieter floor. Its ok for younger clients. Who only arrive back st 4am. Just not for us.

On arrival I appreciate we were here at 2 o clock. Check in isn’t until 4. Absolutely no movement on a room to just get changed. Bags left in luggage room that we JUST managed to squeeze the luggage in. On check in room was clean. Beds made and fresh towels everyday. No floor sweeps. Or bathroom cleans. Just the basics towels and beds. Lifeguards - miserable. Simply barely even allowed to move round the poolside without the whistle been blown. Birds… - bird poo - floors DISGUSTING! Queue at the bar always - 1 or 2 members of staff. B&B only - was ok for the rating of the hotel. Staff at reception R U D E ! - upon check out unhelpful. I’ve stayed here twice before, 3rd time now and won’t be back. That many trees round the pool and shades, you also miss half the sun most of the day. Staff just want you in and out. Not a smile seen in the 6 days I’ve been here.

Stayed at Sol Pelicanos recently and unfortunately would not return. The hotel was extremely noisy at all hours and the walls in the rooms were paper thin — we could hear the TV and conversations from next door constantly. The food was very disappointing with poor variety and repetitive options every day. The pool was absolutely freezing so nobody really wanted to use it. Our room was also in poor condition with holes in the walls and it clearly had not been cleaned properly as the bedside tables were covered in dust when we arrived. The lifts were a complete nightmare, always packed or taking forever, so we ended up using the stairs most of the holiday. Entertainment in the evenings was also poor and not very enjoyable. The only positives were the location, which is very convenient, and the snack bar which was decent if you are staying all inclusive. Overall though, definitely not the standard we expected.

Carlos security was the best. He looked after us so much. George behind the bar was the best bar man ever too. We’ll be back. Thanks guys for making our holiday xxx

17 of us travelled to Benidorm for a family members 70th birthday. It is important to know that the hotel is split into two halves that surround the pool areas. In the Ocas part, the rooms are updated, nice furnishing, clean and fresh rooms, balconies have glass screens and are very much more modern than a great deal of the hotels in the local area. on arrival, 15 of our party went into the Ocas, my wife and i were in the Pelicanos end. These rooms have none of the above! Our room was old, the walls were patched up and different coloured paint used to cover up marks, the floors were tired, the balcony was dirty and the door on to the balcony was broken. some of the lights worked and some did not. The bathroom was really old and dated, ceiling was metal plates and they were mucky and rusty, the sink and shower were dated and looked like they needed doing again, the floor was filthy and the door didnt shut properly. In Pelicanos, the dining room was in good decor with a modern feel however, the staff stood around talking whilst guest were actively looking for a clean table, (we had to ask them on two occasions to clear a table for us). The food is ok, nothing special but again, the clearing of plates was slow. the lifts in Pelicanos were slow, and on several occasions, nobody knew what was happening with them, who was where etc. you cannot go from one part of the hotel to the other, and the night security is awful. We also asked at reception why we werent placed with our party and couldnt get a straight answer, the receptionist just said, it is unlucky!! never again will i book this hotel
