Americas Best Value Inn Athens

Let me first start off by saying, this hotel is a joke and should be shut down.  The check-in process was a ridiculous by any means.  I called ahead weeks before, to confirm our room, which was good.  I was thinking this would be an easy process.  I also asked them if they were fine with American Express, which they said they were.  So all things are good, right, not necessarily. Arrived on-site, got to front desk, my Amex was declined….very baffled by that since the credit limit should be substantial enough.  Tried again, no luck.  Called Amex to see what was going on, they could not see the transaction attempts so my thoughts are that their system may be down, seems legitimate right?  Front desk attendant called his manager I guess, could not understand what they were saying because they were speaking some foreign language, which is another problem.  (Very rude to not speak English when you have an English speaking customer, feel like I am at a disadvantage here.) The front desk attendant hung up with the so-called manager and told me that I needed to try another card or go get cash, but yet could not get me an answer as to why my Amex was not working. I could see on the machine that Amex was one of the products that could be used. Again, the front desk attendant called his manager, same thing. After the third call, we later learned that they do not take Amex, well, they could have said that in the beginning. Overall check-in was terrible.

Absolutely nothing. This was a catfish. The pictures on the website do not match the property.

Everything. It was dirty, small, old smelling. Dirty bed linen, clouded up windows, pissy smelling bathroom. Holes in the floor and uneven flooring…

Close to downtown Athens

The whole property is run down. I dont mind if furniture is broken & walls are all patched up. But at least the room should be clean. Sink full of hair. Floors hadnt been swept. Every surface dirty. Sheet had cigarette burns on it. Carpet nasty full of burn whole. Dont stay here unless your desperate & then its best to stay in your car.

window looks out at a fence 4 feet away. you have to ring the bell to be let in for morning coffee.

Very nice and quiet and low key

By far the WORST HOTEL & The Staff at the front window is disrespectful and after spending $1400 for a 12 day stay I couldn’t even get a cup of coffee and when I asked about a cup of coffee I was told the manager is not in? What kind of response is that to a paying customer who works for Caterpillar on 10 hour shifts and pays $100 a day and $120 on Friday and Saturday for a total of $740 per week so I was never really there except the weekends and the shower water pressure was just a trickle and I was put on the 3rd floor in the center and the room reeked of weed and cigarettes and the shower handle was barely functioning and the only thing that Is of concern to them is collecting your hard earned money/ cash for your stay. They are more concerned with washing their personal cars which he does daily but not with making sure their guests have a clean functioning room or a cup of coffee so please read the reviews before throwing away your money to a hotel chain who does not respect or value YOU! They only respect your money and treat you less than human 😞I had to use Clorox bleach wipes to sanitize everything in the room before I placed any part of my body on anything they wouldn’t even give me a weekly rate so it cost $1400 dollars for a 12 day stay that should have been $800 and that’s being modest for no coffee or respect or a bagel but the website says complimentary breakfast, just lies
