"Short stay but it was fine, needs updated but they are working on it."

6.0

Stay here overnight and it was average, a little dated but other then that it was ok for what we needed. Close to sit down restaurants like Texas Roadhouse and Cheddars, but also close to McDonalds like across the street, walking distance. Staff was nice and room was clean, Kitchenette was nice bathroom was nice, but it was sold to another company, and the nice company is in the process of updating. Overall, I would recommend for short stay and the price was reasonable.

The staff was very efficient and friendly. This property needs some TLC. Surprised that Marriott would let one of their properties get this run down. Our bed was uncomfortable, sagged in the middle. Air conditioner quite loud. Printer downstairs broken so unable to print boarding passes.

moldy shower curtain, the rooms smelled moldy and the caulking was all old and cracked. They price gauged because of the university. Graduation was $700 another time over $300 and the toilets didn't work.

Although the employers were very nice the hotel is extremely dated. I recognize it was graduation weekend but we paid well over $800 for what should have cost less than $100.

"Perfect comfort"

10.0

I stayed here for 5 nights in March and was delighted with the comfort and value. It was a very convenient location right off the Interstate, but still remarkably quiet. But two things impressed me the most. The staff members were remarkably friendly and helpful. I had my cat along and many wanted to love on him. And the property, although an older one, was as clean as could be. The free breakfast was nothing special, but it was adequate, hot, and fresh each day. And I have to add, while I was checking out, I overheard bits of a morning staff meeting. O.k., so I snooped... and was glad I did. I was really impressed by the interaction between the manager, Timothy Parks, and his staff. I left with the overall impression of a committed staff working hard to make the property the best it could be. Some concern was expressed about not being able to replacements or repairs. Mr. Parks handled those well, showing he was taking them serioiusly without slamming upper corporate levels. I say all this because they were also really hurt by some recent negative reviews. My reaction to that is: people who go hunting for a bargain place to say should not expect flagship luxuries. This stay was perfect bargain: a clean comfortable room, attentive staff, great location, and a really great price. I definitely recommend it and will stay there again.

I don't think I could have gotten more for my money. This is an older property so it's a little frayed in places, but the hardworking (yes, I watched them) staff keep it clean and tidy as possible. I found all of the staff members to be helpful and courteous.I was left with a warm feeling when I checked out.

"The Grotty Hotel"

2.0

Run as fast and as far away from this hotel as possible. My family and I just spent three nights here (March 6th-9th) while touring Indiana University, and it is, by far, the WORST hotel we've stayed in as a family, ever. For the record, my husband is a Marriott Bonvoy member, and we've stayed in every type of Marriott out there, big and small, for over ten years and 95% of the time the experiences are great. This is a hotel Marriott should be ashamed to attach their name to. Where do I begin? First, the carpet on the stairwells is absolutely filthy and hasn't seen a vaccum in weeks or maybe months. The laundry room had the same two used dental flossers on the ground in front of the washers two days in a row--revolting. The couch and chair in our room were beyond ratty and worn and one seat cushion had a hole in it. Worst of all, however, was that at Thursday's check-in, we requested our room to be cleaned on Friday and preferably Saturday, as a large family was staying in it (and paid over $1200 for the three-night stay--gotta love the price gouging for the IU-Ohio State game and Kelley Direct Admit weekend!). We walked into our room on both Friday and Saturday afternoons to find it exactly as we had left it. Three different people at the front desk told us that the rooms would be cleaned, including the last instance where my husband specifically asked a brown-haired gentleman at the desk on Saturday morning. My husband and I watched him add our last name and room number to the cleaning list on a Post-it, except it never happened. We learned later that he had informed another front desk employee that our room, in fact, wouldn’t be cleaned, but he never bothered to tell us. By the time we checked out, we had two overflowing trash cans and a sink full of dirty dishes...it was absolutely gross. We had to ask for fresh sheets, towels, toilet paper...I mean, it was really a terrible experience. With multiple teen boys and two adults over three nights, the trash needed to be cleaned out and the toilet paper needed replacing. Sadly, we used a Marriott e-gift card my husband's company gifted to us at Christmas. I couldn't be sorrier to have used these funds for Townplace Suites. I believe I saw the GM's name on a placard at the front desk--Tim Parks, maybe? Whoever it is, please know that the brief highlights of the stay were Anna, who checked us in, and the kind woman who served breakfast each day. Besides this, Marriott desperately needs to review this particular hotel as it needs a massive gut and reno and a professional cleaning crew outsourced daily. There is no excuse for charging a family over $350 a night with zero room/cleaning service. We are normal guests who do not ask for the moon when we stay in a hotel, especially when we know we just need a place to lay our heads at night and have access to the basics. For future guests, please check around the area before you stay here. While the hotel is very convenient, with restaurants in spitting distance and IU less than three miles away, this place is grotty, run-down, and poorly managed, with little attention to any detail for the most basic customer service.
