Elk + Avenue Hotel

Excellent location right in the centre of Banff & 1 minute walk to the ski shuttle bus. Very friendly staff. Clean rooms and fair facilities, particularly liked the sauna. 🥵 Not so keen on the in-house restaurant ’farm & fire’ but that’s another story…

We were delayed on our flight from Kamloops by 9 hours! I rang the hotel earlier to say we’d been delayed. They advised me that they would hold our room, even though it had been paid for for the next 3 nights… the girl on the desk informed me that our rooms were on separate floors which I said was ok. When we arrived at 1:15an we were in side by side rooms on the ground floor. Rooms 160 and 161. These rooms were hideous!!! Noisy, ice machine outside our room, lift and a door that people went out of that vibrated the bed head and shook our room!!! The fridge didn’t work and basically, it wasn’t the room we originally booked!!! They relocated us due to our late arrival. The hotel was fully booked so it was no use asking for a relocation. I left my email and phone number for the manager to contact me and as of yet, a week later, I have heard nothing! The hotel was in a great location with lovely staff and a great restaurant. However, this really tainted our holiday as there was a general lack of care once you checked out! I would still like to hear from the manager regarding the original cost of the rooms we booked and the cupboards at the end of the corridor we received!!!

It's 5* stars from me. So, I arrived late after my 10hr flight from LHR, for my 10nt stay. Reception desk is open 24hrs, so I had a swift check-in and straight up to bed. Upon first inspection, it wasn't the exact room I'd booked,I was expecting a king room with walk-in shower, instead I had a twin queen with bath/shower. However, after a good nights sleep & once I'd opened the curtains and saw the beautiful view, I was very happy with my room, bath came in handy too, after long days out. The coffee machine was great, also the mini fridge came in very handy. Housekeeping cleaned upon my request, and did a wonderful job. Location & the staff were the highlights for me. I couldn't have chosen better location, the hotel is situated right in the middle of Banff Avenue, amongst all the shops, restaurants, bars. There's a supermarket literally 2 minutes walk away, perfect for stocking the fridge & room with snacks. As a solo traveller the staff are always important to me, a friendly face and someone to talk to means a lot. The reception staff were all so lovely. I can't remember names, but I came down to a friendly greeting, a hug and chat about my days adventures ahead. All the reception staff I dealt with were exceptional. Farm & Fire is the onsite restaurant. I dined here for breakfast several times, for dinner & for drinks. Amazing food, amazing staff & the best Blackberry Mule cocktails... ;) The staff I dealt with were amazing, I will leave a separate review. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, I dined elsewhere on some days out, but Farm & Fire is probably one of the best, definitely worth staying and eating here. The only thing that I wasn't used to, is that usually when staying at a hotel, you expect/hope to get breakfast/ dinner reservations. Some days you just wana chill and not venture out. However due to busy periods (Skijoring) , even as a hotel guest, you weren't guaranteed a table. Not what I'm used to, but good to know, when planning your day. I would 100% recommend this hotel & wouldn't hesitate to stay here again in the future. In fact, I hope to. Thank you for having me, I had a wonderful stay... Cheers Dave
