The Metropole Hotel

I could not be more disappointed with my room. The mattress and pillows were terrible. The windows provided no acoustic insulation, so every noise from the street sounded as if it were inside the room. Small and easy repairs had been neglected — for example, the towel hanger was not fixed to the wall and was simply hanging loose. The glass shelf above the toilet had bolts so loose that the shelf was tilted, making anything placed on it likely to fall. Worst of all, there was no hot water, and I was only able to enjoy a proper shower the following evening after being moved to a different room. I would gladly trade a less “fancy” reception area for a room in proper condition. The contrast was shocking — being greeted by a lovely, impeccably dressed gentleman, with a pianist playing, elegant décor, and exceptionally kind reception staff, only to find the room in such poor condition.

The Metropole has it all when it comes a break in Cork. A fine hotel in a great location with helpful and very welcoming professional staff. Our stay there was a very positive experience and we look forward to a return visit.

Room was spacious this was after we refused first room 409 because window looked out onto a brick wall we eventually had 412 which better but bathroom needs refurbishing and water pressure was very low

This is a stylish city centre hotel with a warm welcome and amazing hospitality. Although the bedrooms are not air-conditioned the window opened well and a fan was provided. The beds were comfortable and the en-suite spotless. Excellent breakfast, and we can also recommend the early bird dinner. All staff we met were a credit to the hotel and special thanks to Naythan and Emily.

Stopped in today with a friend and the service was phenomenal. Our waitress Ella was amazing, very attentive and kind. Will 100% recommend coming here. The chocolate cake and hot chocolate are delicious.

Brilliant service, came in for a drink and some food with a friend and our waitress Ella was fantastic. She was incredibly attentive and took great care of us. Will definitely visit again!

Suite was tired and dated. Bed was very uncomfortable. Bathroom in needed maintenance- grout missing. It was disappointing for the premium price charged.

We had a wonderful breakfast here on August 4, 2025. It was healthy and delicious but more important to us was the service. Ella was warm and welcoming, going above and beyond to accommodate us. Thank you Ella. You are a credit to the hotel, and we’ll recommend this place in future.

A very serene and elegant hotel which is in a perfect location for exploring Cork CIty. The staff (and the trainee staff) were flawless and very helpful. The breakfast and afternoon teas were perfect. This was a great experience and perfect for a city break. We were very pleased as we booked online without knowing much about the hotel and it turned out that it was everything we could have wanted.
