Staff was amazing and very helpful

This hotel is conveniently situated in an area with easy access to nightlife, bus stops, the train station, and many other conveniences. The rooms are clean and feel upscale. The hotel also has a deal with the nearby parking garage for guests. Overall would consider staying here again.

Location, location. Walkable to both the Bus and Train Station. Restaurants and Shopping were also nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Gorgeous landmark building close to inter-city bus routes. Large, comfortable rooms and if you get the package that includes full breakfast, you are in for a treat. One of the most beautiful hotel lobbies I've seen and some of the most gracious staff as well.

We were looking for a halfway point to stay a night on our way from Dublin to Killarney . I would not recommend this hotel or town for a family stopping point. The hotel is a maze of halls that had 1 functioning elevator when we were there. Our room was very small and not air conditioned which I don’t recall seeing when I booked. It’s in a very busy area. The garage associated with the hotel is around the back and not connected in any way to the hotel. Overall no glaring issues, it was clean and a very pretty historic building. Just not ideal for a family.

Pros: *Location! Literally a quick walk across the bridge from bus stop. *Staff was great! Reception was welcoming, accepted our bags early. *Lobby was lovely. Cons: *Rooms did not reflect the lobby. I understand the small size, as it's an historic property. However, basic maintenance has been neglected. Caulking around tub needs attention. Molding around ceiling sloppily done. Heneral grime. Our TV didn't work, upon calling the front desk we found the phone didn't work. The towel bar/dryer in bathroom either didn't work or had no instructions how to operate. The front desk lady offered us a new room for our inconvenience. It appeared to be no better than our current one. Hopefully they will freshen up all areas after tourist season is over, and make the Metropole the sparkling gem like it deserves and one expects from a 4 star hotel.

We went for dinner in the Metropole Hotel. It was simply wonderful. The staff members who looked after us provided 5 star treatment. Emily welcomed and farewelled us as if we were old and valued customers and friends. She is the perfect welcoming presence for any hotel. In the lovely, peaceful and elegant dining room, we were looked after by Niamh and Fabian. When I say looked after, I mean treated like royalty. Humourous, courteous, discrete and helpful, they made our experience even more special. I mentioned after our meal that we were celebrating our anniversary. A plate of gorgeous desserts arrived at our table compliments of the hotel. The food was excellent. I am not a vegetarian but I do like trying out the food. It was very good. The other half added prawns to her veggie dish and was delighted with her food. We had tickets for a show in the nearby Everyman theatre and had a little time to spare but we felt completely relaxed and under no presssure to leave when finished. This was a top class meal in a top class venue with top class service.

Myself and my husband went for dinner in the restaurant last Saturday night and we must say the whole experience was just fantastic! We were greeted with a friendly and warm welcome. All the staff was so helpful and accommodating, nothing was asked too much, they really went the extra mile for us. The whole atmosphere with the cosy chairs and decoration was just so beautiful and relaxing. My husband had the soup and I had the chicken wings as a starter. Both was delicious. The chicken and the hake that we had for our mains were cooked to perfection. We were full, but could not resist also having a dessert...swiss roll and creme brulee...absolutely amazing as well. Overall, we had such an enjoyable evening there and cannot thank all the staff enough. Special thanks to Fabian, Alberto and Ana for making our night so memorable. We will for sure return again soon and would recommend this restaurant to anyone!
