It’s beautiful gardens, very comfortable public rooms and bedrooms, and small spa . If you are looking for a period hotel / retreat in tranquil surroundings with attentive staff and peace and quiet then this is the place for you.

The overhead shower, it was the only modern thing in the bedroom but if you wanted to have a shower without washing your hair this was fairly impossible.

The breakfast was fab.Ive got food intolerances and the staff accommodated me well. The location is great just outside York, with free guest parking and a quick uber ride in.
