Beautifull location, comfortable room, excellent restaurant, lovely pool, competent and pleasant staff.

The lift in Le Chapitre did not work.

This was not a 5 star hotel and description of rooms and hotel is very misleading. We’ve stayed at Relais Chateau hotels in the past and they were very nice. This hotel desperately needs remodeling. We requested an updated room but none were available so it’s clear that they’ve renovated some and not others but don’t disclose that information. For over $500 per night this was a disappointing part of our trip.

This could be a really great hotel. Sadly, it is tired and in need of investment to bring it up to the standard one would expect of a Relais & Chateau property. We were checked into a very dark room initially, which had foliage so dense around the windows that it was growing through into the room. There were cobwebs in the corners of the room, and dust over several of the surfaces. There was also evidence of damp in the corridor, which we could smell inside the room. As a hotel owner myself, I appreciate that it costs a lot to keep a property in good condition, but at over 400 euros per night, this was not acceptable. We spoke with a very helpful member of the reception staff, who moved us into a much nicer room for the duration of our stay. The staff were generally very good, but the hotel overall fell short of our expectations. It didn't feel as though it met its 5 star rating, and I would advise those in the senior management there to look at where improvements can be made to bring it up to that level, because it could be excellent.

The hotel needs some serious investment to bring it up to a 5 star standard.
