The food was excellent, from a light lunch to a gourmet dinner and a pleasant breakfast.

Next door's building site cold have been somewhere else.

gorgeous compound, great rooms, beautiful graden, wonderful swimming pool, exquisite breakfast, outstanding service (with one exception though)

whilst the vast majority of the staff is impeccable, some (especially one gentlemen at the reception during the week end) lack the attention that would be expected. Also we had to wait three days for the shower heard to be fixed and had to ask three times said gentlemen to at least fix it with tape until a technician is available again. Finally over a couple of days, the swimming pool was invaded by a good number of small children who spent hours playing ball and screaming in the pool. It was extremely disturbing so that other clients left the area. It should be expected that the hotel enforces a number of rules and that the staff at least addresses the issue with the parents. I asked the same gentlemen at the reception to speak with the parents. His refused (or did not dare) to do so and his answer was "speak with the management on monday!!" I had to address the issue with the families. Not what a patron should have to do. Pity: these incidents made our stay less enjoyable.

We liked our spacious room, the fabulous dinner, great service, good breakfast and the location of the hotel which was close to the amenities in Villeneuve village.

We found the drinks to be a little expensive.

Beautiful historic property which oozes charm and character . My bedroom was very comfortable and spacious . Staff is excellent and professional. The courtyards and gardens have tall trees providing coolness and shade which was welcome during the heat of summer.

Unfortunately during my four day stay there was a family group with a number a few very noisy children around the pool area . A shame for guests like me who liked to read and couldn’t relax peacefully. Apart from that I had a lovely stay in the hotel ,

Breakfast is extra, but very good. Dinner is a big deal at this Relais & Chateaux Hotel. It is a one-star Michelin and quite elaborate. The young staff is helpful and friendly, the gardens are magnificent and the location is tucked away and quiet, but a 3-minute walk to the center of the village. To drive over the Rhone to the big center of Avignon takes 6 minutes. This is the best part of the Avignon area. It feels like real Provence yet less than a mile from all the major attractions in this major metropolitan and tourist City.

Hum? There is a trick for finding the driveway. You must go against the sign that says, do not enter or go the long way and miss the opening. But once inside the parking lot is large yet separated from the beautiful grounds of the hotel.
