The Spread Eagle Hotel

Ideally located in the centre of Thames. Generally looked tired and need of refurbishment. Staff friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our short time at the SE.. good friendly service.. we stayed in the Hayloft room AKA the honeymoon suite which is huge! A bit weird that there’s no door to the bathroom.. this didn’t affect us particularly.. probably could do with a few more sockets to plug in phones etc.. Breakfast was good and fair quality.. Plenty of hot tea! All the staff were helpful and friendly.. nice little town too, we ate in the Thai restaurant a few mins walk down the high street very nice! About 20 mins from Bicester village which is why we chose it as our base.. so we’d recommend it!

Great staff but property looking tired

Hotel used to be very nice but now looking shabby and in need of an overhaul. Service was ok. Room was ok, but 100GBP is high for the overall experience.

Nice hotel and good location, downside is the paid car park. Nice room but it was quite cold, unexpected very cold weather for May. Friendly and informative staff.

I’m afraid to say I was disappointed this time. I stayed last month and was given a nice room overlooking the courtyard. As the property is only allowed for business travellers there are plenty of rooms. This time, I arrived and was given a very small and pokey room ‘the Bothy’ it was very tired and the bathroom was cramped with a shower only. Sleep was ok, but could hear the next room TV through thin walls. Breakfast was very good as before and turned up exactly on time as requested. I was on business and found the internet to be unworkable, constantly losing connection and unable to hold a conference call. I had to had to use my phone 4g to do this. Checkout, I wanted to give my feedback, but at reception manager was sat down, not even asked how my stay was. My first visit was very good, the owner/manager was personable and engaging, I was given a nice room, and I was happy with the rate. This time a completely different experience with nothing of what I had experienced before. I want to support local hotels and not revert back to the Hilton a short way up the road. At the same price, the standard at the Hilton on this occasion was far superior. I would struggle to now go back to the spread eagle on business unless I was given a better experience.

really comfortable bed room and great bath

We enjoyed our overnight stay in a v spacious family room. Delicious meal in hotel restaurant. Children catered for. Brilliant breakfast and attentive and friendly staff

Good service. Fine breakfast . Clean and good decorative appearance but tired in places.

We had an excellent stay. Our rooms were excellent, very comfortable beds and good facilities overall. Breakfast was ok so not a five star experience.
