Property was clean but needed tlc

Rooms especially toilet was dirty. Noisy outside from people drinking. No water provided in the rooms. Breakfast very standard.

The hotel and rooms were terribly run down. Badly chipped skirting boards, ripped wallpaper, absolutely filthy and worn carpets. No towels on arrival. No cold water in bathroom. Didn’t bothering staying for breakfast…

The ratings are low so we didn’t have high expectations. We only chose to stay here due to a family event nearby. The place met those expectations, but only just. Other than room size, cleanliness and bed comfort, the place is poor in every respect. Will definitely not return.

Room was comfortable, although dated. Unfortunately the hotel boiler was broken so no hot water in the morning, but overall it’s an OK hotel.

This is the 2nd time bed has been very uncomfortable. Both times mattress has sagged in the middle and this time sloped from one side of the bed to the other. The shower this morning was dangerous, it took a long time for warm water to come through, then became so hot I had to escape from the cubicle, flooding the area outside as I had to throw cold water from the sink over my back. I turned the valve fully to cold but after 10minutes the temperature was still scalding and dangerous. I was forced to use the sink to rinse soap from me (which is almost impossible to fully do) further flooded the floor which created a slip risk and I was forced to use all towels and floor mat to mop up.

The entire hotel was very tired looking. Our room was clean and functional but needed renovating. The window was stuck and couldn't be opened. There was no way of adjusting the temperature in the room Some of the staff were friendly but in general it was all rather impersonal. Breakfast was adequate but not that inviting. Parking was in a public car park behind the hotel and a fee per night was payable. It appeared that the parking fee was refundable for anyone who had a meal in the restaurant but not for in house bed and breakfast guests! We chose this hotel as we needed to be in the centre of the town and in that respect it was excellent. However we felt it was overpriced and would not stay there again.

Characterful coaching inn situated in this lovely market town. My room was large, warm, with a four poster bed, clawfoot free standing bath in my ensuite, and French doors opening onto the small garden. Excellent breakfast.

The room was huge, the roll top both was lovely and the bed was comfortable. We would definitely stay in the honeymoon suite again. Please put a hairdryer in the room.

The hotel is lovely overall, but the thing about older buildings is that they need a LOT of upkeep. The floors in the upper rooms are very uneven, so if you have any disabilities where balance is an issue, request a room on the ground floor. Otherwise, clean, relatively quiet and nice stay.
