"DISAPPOINTED"

4.0

The worst Luxury Hotel ever , met at boat and the greater walked away with first 2 to unboard found our own way but sat for ages and host rushed through their map with no information on trips or times shuttles finished. rude reception staff. Catching a shuttle was a jokre often 30 minutr plus wait. Bteakfast no glasses for juice, slow topping up fruit. Staff are overworked and although waiting staff in the a la carte bars and resteraunts are good. Fishermans Cove 5 dtar was the best part of the holidayVery Dissapointed not a Luxury Hotel 3 star at best.

"Wonderful resort!"

10.0

Wonderful resort to stay in: excellent facilities and spectacular rooms (we were in the hilltop villas). The whole ambiance is luxurious, stylishly understated and relaxing. It is a wonderful place to switch off. However, the standout is the staff who take making guests welcome to the next level. We dined in two of the restaurants, both excellent. I particularly liked the “new” Uncle Lim’s Kitchen. Very saddened to depart

"A great resort"

10.0

We stayed at Pangkor Laut Resort with our adult son for 7 nights, a Sea Villa and a Garden Villa. We were on the residents full board package and therefore the only additional cost was drinks. The happy hour at 2 of the bars was taken advantage of. From being collected at our hotel in Kuala Lumpur at the beginning of the trip to being driven to Penang at the end, a wonderful and seamless experience. The villas are excellent, very good sized, great bathrooms, very comfortable. The terrace areas with sun loungers were also very comfortable. The pool was very large, clean. Plenty of sun beds. An easy to call buggy service to the beach area. Staff were all very helpful, incredibly happy and knowledgeable. The breakfast buffet was very good. We ate at the BBQ restaurant by the pool at lunchtime, really good, great choice of well prepared food. Our 7 evening meals were split between Mr Lims and Fishermans Cove. The former was good, the latter truly excellent with a fantastic choice of fish. Our only criticism was the fitness centre which has poor air conditioning and very aged equipment. We were assured that this is due a major refurbishment in the short term, it really needs it.

"A really enjoyable resort to enjoy a relaxing holiday."

10.0

Pangkor Laut resort is the sole occupant of a 300-acre private island on the Straits of Malacca, three miles off the west coast of Malaysia. The resort comprises a series of detached or semi-detached villas scattered, mainly, around the east side of the island, either up the hillside or over water. We stayed in a hillside villa which was just a short walk (plus a very handy outdoor lift) to get to the main part of the resort at Royal Bay. The hillside villas offer a wondertul view over the bay. Pankor Laut resort makes the most of its enviable location with three different restaurants overlooking Royal Bay. The restaurants face East, which allows you to enjoy breakfast watching the sunrise. There are a number of different dining options in the resort, and all were very good. We ate mostly at Uncle Lim's Kitchen, which specialises in Nonya and Hock Chew cuisine. I really enjoyed the food here. The resort also has a beach bar at Emerald Bay on the West Side of the island, which allows you to enjoy lunch or drinks at Sunset. It is a bit of an uphill and downhill walk to reach Emerald Bay from the main resort at Royal Bay, so I would recommend using the shuttle bus if you are neither young nor fit ! We found the frequency of the shuttle bus perfectly good. Whilst the location and facilities of the resort are fabulous, the real stars are the staff. Every single team member we had any interaction with was brilliant. I would not want to single out any one person but our experience was universally good. From front of house restaurant and bar teams to housekeeping, to maintenance, to reception, to gardening, every single person spent time chatting with you or even just a smile or friendly wave as they passed by. Each and every interaction felt like the teams were genuinely pleased to talk with vou and to make your stay better and every person I spoke to was a brilliant ambassador for the Pangkor Laut resort. The resort should be very proud of its people. A really enjoyable resort to enjoy a relaxing holiday. We are already planning a return trip next January

"Incredible experience in a stunning location"

10.0

We had the most amazing holiday in a stunning location. This idyllic, unspoilt island is the perfect place to relax and appreciate all its natural beauty. The rooms were luxurious and blended perfectly in the tropical landscape. The food in all the restaurants was of an extremely high quality while the Fisherman’s Cove was an exceptional fine dining experience. Emerald Bay , the Spa and the guided nature walk were among many unforgettable highlights. All the staff, without exception, were incredibly kind, helpful, friendly and professional - it would be unfair to single any particular individual out. We will absolutely be returning in the future!

"Wonderful unique experience."

8.0

Great setting, great concept, beautiful island. All staff were warm and friendly and the resort was generally well kept. Garden view cabin was a good size, comfortable but in need of refurbishment. Food at the Fishermans Cove restaurant was gourmet style and excellent although pricey. The Feast Village has a decent varied menu but the environment needs an upgrade to make it more appealing. Uncle Lims Kitchen serves reasonably priced excellent local cuisine. These are the only choices for evening meals which was a little disappointing albeit sufficient for a 7 night stay. Emerald bay is idyllic, clean, and safe bathing . Chapmans Bar overlooks the bay and is the perfect spot for a late lunch and evening drinks watching the sun go down. The jungle walk along the Southern parameter is an absolute must followed by a visit to the nature conservation centre. Aris and Einstein are both superb guides (and conservationists) who have given their names to oriental hornbills !! Worth a visit to decide who’s the best looking one !! The spa is excellent too. We had a couples treatment which was superb, so thanks to the girls in there for a memorable experience. Finally, a special mention to the restaurant staff who are very engaging and work enormously hard to please. Thank you Shakil, Ram, Shamil, Gagan, Tht, and all your colleagues. If you are a couple looking for a perfect destination to relax and chill out this is definitely the place to be.

The whole island experience is first class.,My villa was on the first floor of a residence divided into The sea view and villa were "paradise island" quality. The vrious restaurants in the resort were excellent And catered for my diet. Emerald Beach reachable by resort buggy is superb for swimming. One is transfered form the mainland and back by private speed boat.

"For person who loves privacy and nature"

10.0

We stay 3 nights at Tropical Garden Villa, which was perfect with kids. Nearest to breakfast area and Buggy service. Room was comfortable, spacious bathroom and big terrace. Resort has one of best beach - Emerald Bay and place is best combination of : beach loungers under big tropical trees where birds sing softly and the warm ocean breeze washes over you, making you relax. And one more best part of beach! In high tide ot low tide You still can enjoy. On sunny day, water very clear and bottom of it plesant and sandy. Food overall all good. We enjoy our breakfast and dinner at chinese restaurant. Just for info : if you young couple and like to walk can book Hill Villa (romantic sunrise view, jungle, birds and some staircases 😊) Olderly visitors can book Garden / Beach Villa - easy to walk and not far from Lobby Honeymooner can book Sea / Spa Villa - totaly private area and bland with ocean.

"Beautiful location, horrible customer service."

6.0

We came to Pangkor Laut Resort as part of our honeymoon trip to Malaysia. We stayed for a couple of nights and here is the full review: 1- The Resort: The resort is beautiful, albeit a little old. We stayed at the Sea Villas (which are the wooden huts in the water). We booked the Sea Villas because we thought hurt we can swim in the sea but you can’t (you can on the other side of the island - Emerald Bay). Overall it is a beautiful island and you can capture some incredible photos. For example we woke up early for the sunrise and you can see a beautiful sunrise from the Sea villas. The Sea Villas are in need of some modernisation, and there is not bidet in the bathroom. The outdoor deck is ok, but the deck chair cushions need replacing. 2- Experiences and Activities: We paid 500MYR (around £100) for the Sunset speed boat (it’s not a speedboat 😅), which was with other guests and the boat sits around 20 or so guests. They served cold drinks and some Canapé (which I personally really didn’t enjoy). However, the staff (a young man named THT) was lovely and you get some incredible sunset photos. We also did the jungle walk, which was ok, and what actually made it fun was the guide (his name tag said Einstein 🤷🏻‍♂️😅). They will walk you from the lobby to Emerald Bay, and then you can either stay or take a buggy back to the resort. Be prepared to be bitten a handful of times on the jungle walk by ‘tiger mosquitos’, or as our guide called it “blood donation”. 3- The food: There are a few choices of restaurant as well as bars and service for the pool and beach (Emerald Bay). The food is good, not amazing but good. 4- The Service: This is where it all goes downhill, and the main reason why it doesn’t deserve more than a 3 star. The reception staff all see to hate their jobs. A smile is a rare event and when you do get a smile, it’s very much forced. The leave you in the lobby for ages without any information (where you’ll definitely get bitten to bits by the mosquitos, the guy at checkout (Harlem) looked like he had just woken up and didn’t want to be there at all. We had to force some information out of him. The check-in wasn’t much different. In the restaurants you’ll get a mixture, some are Amazing and some you’d want to stay away from. For a resort that’s supposedly a 5 star, the customer service is 0 star. Such a shame.
