Pangkor Laut Resort

My fiancée and I visited Pangkor Laut Resort in February 2025, and from the moment we arrived, we were completely captivated. The island was basically a private paradise—lush, peaceful, and beautifully designed. We fell in love with everything such as the warm hospitality, the stunning villas (we stayed in the sea villa), the thoughtful décor, and the way every corner of the resort seemed to blend naturally with the surrounding rainforest and sea. We went leading up to Christmas and the festive decoration were also a great touch. We loved it so much that when we returned to Malaysia later in the year (my wife is Malaysian), we decided to bring my immediate family with us. We were excited to share the experience—but even then, Pangkor Laut managed to exceed our already-high expectations. My family was absolutely blown away. My brother who is always moaning for once didn’t have nothing to moan about 😂 A special shout-out is absolutely deserved for several staff members who elevated our stay: Segar (Director of Staff Liaison) – Brilliant. He checked in on us and my family constantly, making sure that if we needed anything at all, he was right there to accommodate. His warmth and attentiveness truly stood out. Poolside Team – THT and Michael – Two incredibly polite, hard-working lads. They were always on the move, making sure guests were happy and well looked after. Their energy and dedication didn’t go unnoticed. Nadem and Husan – We met them at the breakfast buffet and in the evening restaurants, and we immediately clicked. Both are genuinely kind, friendly, and always ready to help with a smile. They made every meal feel personal and welcoming. The staff, combined with world-class facilities, beautiful scenery, immaculate landscaping, and a serene atmosphere, made both of our visits unforgettable. Pangkor Laut Resort isn’t just a place to stay—it’s a place that stays with you. I couldn’t recommend it more for anyone seeking a luxurious, peaceful, and truly memorable island escape. The island is pure paradise and the staff are incredibly helpful, accommodating and go above and beyond. We experienced this hands down with Segar Sithambaram - He welcomed us onto the island, remembered our names when he asked us how are stay was going at dinner! Even the our spa treatments he knew and wanted to know if we had enjoyed them!! He runs his team so well and is dedicated to the guests getting the best experience

Beautiful place to visit, relax and unwind. Staff were all really lovely. Accommodation in a garden villa was really comfortable with fantastic views out to sea. I would recommend this place. The transfer arrangements were also good . A variety of food and drinks are available and the happy hour was very welcome. Pools and gardens were very well maintained and the spa was a relaxing experience. I had a birthday while I was there and the staff recognised this with a little cake etc. the staff go out of their way to make your stay as easy as possible. Great value hotel would highly recommend.

We stayed at Pangkor Laut in early November and the place is beautiful, there is a real wow factor when you arrive, the view of the place from the jetty and also the reception area are amazing. We pushed the boat out and booked a sea villa suite which was huge and felt luxurious. Yes, one or two of the fixtures and fittings could do with an update but it in no way detracted from our stay. I know some reviews have commented on the normal sea villas but I can't comment on that. Uncle Lim's was a highlight, the food is stunning. A minor gripe is that although they have happy hour, it isn't available in the main bar by the pool. The bar near the restaurant is tiny with very little seating and the only alternative is to get a buggy to the other side of the island to Chapman's. It's not the end of the world but it feels a bit cheap to not make it available in what is the hotels main bar. It's an easy fix. The staff were amazing and if we ever come out this way again we would definitely stay again and try one of the other villa types.

Good: Spectacularly beautiful island, pristine white sands, very clean, lots of virgin jungle. Good breakfast, huge range of food, but not quite as good as breakfast at E&O Hotel Penang, which we had just come from. Uncle Lim’s restaurant is excellent. Chapman’s is good, except the chendol. Lovely friendly staff – special mention to Christian, Sakil, THT. Check-in at jetty slick. Beach and hill villas are spacious, with good layout. Hornbills come every day to the pool area looking for food, which is marvellous! Mostly the common pied hornbills, but there are a couple of rare great hornbills around too! Flying foxes (fruit bats) in the trees. Apparently there are large ottters, sea turtles, wild boar about too, but we never saw them. The “free” jungle trek takes the northern route, which is basically a walk to the spa village, and then a 500m trek through the jungle, along quite a steep path up and down. Not really suitable for those with breathing or walking issues. Worth doing, but cover up as there are tons of mosquitoes. Not-so-good: Sea villas are cramped, with silly open plan toilet/bath/vanity areas. Large sprawling resort, so many villas have to rely on buggy transfers, but they are frequent. This is a 32 year old resort, and although there has obviously been some upgrading, much of the fittings show their age. In need of some refreshing, especially at the price they are charging. Feast Village restaurant is so-so, especially the salad buffet. Each villa needs more than 1 waste bin. Taps for vanity basins in ridiculous (and very unhygienic) place – needs re-think when renovating. Robes hardly shout luxury. Wifi very flaky. Prices for the resort much higher for foreigners, so if you have a Malaysian friend get them to book for you!

We visited this resort wanting relaxation and that is what we got ! from stepping off the speedboat we knew it was what we wanted ,wonderful greeting and so friendly staff SUPERB! We had a Hill villa with a fantastic view and the Hornbills visited as did the monkeys! the room was everything, supplied with every essential the bed was so comfortable. We dined in Feast village and the service was brilliant ,Mohamed and sankil remembered your room numbers and favourite drinks and were so good with any questions we had two brilliant waiters!! The concierge I think his name was sergar welcomed us and every day helped out with any questions we had ,a very kind and true gentleman. We had lunch at Chapmans bar in Emerald Bay a truly wonderful setting ,the waiter Sohag was very good suppling us sunbeds towels etc and then serving us lunch nothing was any trouble , will we return DEFINITELY. The place is lovely. We took the hill villas and felt so close to nature. The property is a little old but nothing much to complain about. Mr Segar Director of Guest Liaision and Mr Mages, the F&B manager were amazing. They will go all out to assist you. The F&B staffs were all well trained. I would strongly recommend this resort. Segar & Mages, thank u guys.

Our stay at Pangkor Laut Resort was nothing short of paradise. We were blessed with beautiful weather, and this island truly is one of a kind. It is a peaceful haven where we could completely unwind from our busy lives. Even though I am not sure if the resort was fully booked, it never felt crowded. There was always space by the pool, and the atmosphere was calm and relaxing. Pangkor Laut has truly thought of every detail. Despite being an iconic resort that has existed for decades, everything remains spotless, perfectly maintained, and full of charm. The food was excellent throughout. Uncle Lim’s Kitchen deserves a special mention: the roasted duck and chicken in sesame sauce were absolutely heavenly. For lunch, we loved Emerald Bay the most, as it perfectly matched the relaxed beach vibe we were looking for. The only minor downside was that at the main pool, only the full all-you-can-eat BBQ menu was available, and no smaller portions. So we happily took the golf cart to Emerald Bay every day instead. Our room was simply fantastic, a solid 10/10. Every morning, by the time we returned from breakfast, it was already cleaned and beautifully refreshed. The staff were outstanding. Everyone was warm, friendly, and genuinely interested in making our stay as perfect as possible. Two people deserve a special shout-out: Nadim, who worked both at breakfast and at Uncle Lim’s, was an exceptional host with great attention to detail. And THT, who worked by the pool, was talented, cheerful, and incredibly hard-working. He truly stood out and is an absolute asset to Pangkor Laut. I hope the resort knows how lucky they are to have him. In short, an unforgettable experience in paradise. We will definitely be back.

The hotel was a true paradise, the staff was amazing. The room fantastic. We enjoyed the facilities of the hotel like pools, videogame room, tennis court and also streaming room for movies.

We have been visiting Pangkor Laut for 30 years, and it is with great disappointment that we have noticed a steady decline in the standards, the food in Fisherman's Cove is still excellent, Uncle Lim is now very average but Dinner in Feast Village is absolutely awful, there is a mixture of buffet and a la carte but sadly there is very poor offering. The cleanliness of the resort in the room and the ground are also sub standard for what is supposed to be a 5 star resort. The pathway outside our room wasn't swept for the 4 day duration of our stay despite a comment to reception. I must stay that the staff are still excellent and so friendly but it it with a sad heart to say that this will be our last visit
