Pangkor Laut Resort

Whenever I have a celebration in mind at a location that is rather near and easily accessible by road with friends , one good location that has both a sea front and forest for short treks , one haven comes to mind. For my nonegenarian spouse who needs a wheel-chair at times, and my family and friends many of whom are Nordic Walkers and aqua fitness enthusiasts , the choice is none other than the serene YTL Pangkor Laut Resort which is slightly more than a 3-hour road journey away from our home. So, last year as it has been the norm, we celebrated my 84th birthday back at our favourite Uncle Lim's restaurant by the sea front. I just love the tranquil ambience , the variety of food especially the fresh garupa which is perfectly steamed and the big prawns cooked our style , the friendly quick service , the clean rooms , and the prompt room service whenever we called for. The birthday cake, in fact 3 of us all seniors, celebrated our birthdays here during this milestone getaway - 2 of us on 2nd Nov and another member of our group on the 3rd day. The cakes were beautifully presented . We even staged an impromptu fun concert to entertain ourselves in the Conference Room. The staff did the seating arrangement for us and fixed the music and the sound system so efficiently all in good time after our dinner. In all there were more than 50 of us close friends and relatives. We particularly liked the extremely great service of loading our luggage speedily into the speedboats and registering us so quickly so not much time was wasted. We were served drinks as a welcome after our 3plus hour ride. The Nordic Walkers had ample space for several personalised Refresher short courses during the day in the open. This was good in the open air. They loved the explanation of the resort naturalist as they went on the short Nature trail. It suited the seniors fine as the challenge was just moderate to suit their health condition. They enjoyed the walk up and down the different terrain. Overall, it was indeed a splendid 4D3N break from the pollution of the capital city and to celebrate a birthday with close friends and relatives at a resort known for its cleanliness and friendly service with a smile and a warmth that YTL RESORTS that I frequent regularly are known for. As a repeat customer , it is a wondetful experience to be welcomed so warmly and with such a personalised caring service.. To Ivy , the Resort Manager and her entire team, especially the Spa team , the different Chefs - Chef Ali and his team, Mr Vije who stands out , Aung Thuren and all the waiters at the diffefent restaurants and Chapman Bar and the Feast Village plus the swimming pool Beach Cafe thank you all for a wonderful stay. To the boat men and jetty staff plus the drivers of the shuttle vans, your service with a smile is exemplary. We enjoyed the birthday celebration and entire stay and certainly will be back next year. See you.

All i can say is WOW WOW WOW, what a place to stay . Never been to Malaysia before and this place rocked my boat . From the speed boat crossing the meet and greet (Sagar you were a gentleman) to just being there what a place to relax ,the food was wonderful people were so friendly the weather over the first week of October was wonderful . i cannot praise this place enough .we had our own infinity pool to ourselves overlooking our stilted sleeping room sea otters playing in the sea , cheeky monkeys aswell . thank you all who looked after us both ,oh and by the way locally brewed Carlsberg to top off a great place thanks all

We were slightly worried about our stay at Pangkor Laut Resort following our traumatic and distressing stay at YTL’s Spa Village Resort, Bali when the hotel closed suddenly while we were staying there. We applaud the staff team at Pangkor Laut for looking after us so well and making us feel special. It did not start well with Etihad leaving one of our cases in Abu Dhabi but Christian was on the case and it eventually was returned to us after Christian and Ivy did a lot of detective work! We would not call this resort a “small luxury hotel” as it is big and caters for large group travel. However, the resort itself is spread out over the island. There are several restaurants but our package only allowed us to frequent Feast and Uncle Lim’s. We had to have breakfast at Feast but tried to avoid this restaurant as it busy and quite noisy. Uncle Lim’s, on the other hand, was superb. The fresh fish and seafood was second to none and cooked to order. There was a good choice of cocktails and “happy hour” from 18.00-19.30 certainly helped with the cost of the drinks! Wine is expensive here but the Sapporo beer was an excellent alternative. We also had lunch at Chapmans Bar at the beach and at Royal Bay Beach Club . We were also privileged to try Fisherman’s Cove one evening which was amazing and well worth it! Thanks to Vije and Robin. The beach was truly beautiful….white sand, good sun beds and beach towels . There is no life guard but they have a flag system to show when it is safe to swim. If you want to have a quiet time, I would go for a Spa Villa ( over water villa) which is in an adults only area. It has a beautiful pool just for adults. Our room was spacious with excellent ( noisy) air con. If you like a really firm bed then you won’t have a problem but it was too firm for me. They kindly put another mattress topper on the bed straight away which helped. The bathroom was enormous with plenty of towels and toiletries. It was wonderful to be able to see sea otters and there were wild boar on the shoreline. There are electric buggies to transfer you to wherever you want to go on the island. These can be a little hit and miss . If it is raining, you can wait up to 20 minutes for one but mostly, we were lucky. If you visit this resort ( and we spent 9 nights here) , you have to take in the 4 hours car transfer from KLIA. It is rather boring as it consists of mostly motorway and traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur. However, we had a lovely time here and would like to say a big thank you to Ivy ( General Manager) who was incredibly efficient, Vije for the restaurant experiences, Krisna and Apon. There are so many staff to say thank you to and I am sorry we can’t mention everyone.

Our 3rd time here. Honeymoon, 10 years anniversary and now 20 years anniversary. This visit we noticed a decline in many things, dinning options was not great, 3 restaurants only and every night we staid, one restauant was closed. spa area is so run down, spa surrounding needs serious work, inside spa lots of dead leaves needs trimming, siting area by the spa need work, retaining wall by the beach is falling apart. Massage was good but not amazing. Price was high around $77 for 50 min, my cover up smelled bad so i had to ask for another one. Breakfast was good but not great, coffee machines didn't work well and floors are not the cleanest. Food quality for dinner was very good. But prices are very high. Our villa was amazing and very clean. Most beautiful room ever. The villas are well kept and main pool area was well kept and in a great shape, absolutely gorgeous. Check in staff was great we had Kimie and he is wonderful. But check out staff were not great. They didn't seem to care much about our stay. Also, first 2 visits we had the manager personally came to say bye to us and on our 10 year anniversary the manager gave us a card signed by all staff and a nice assortment of local soaps. Also, they used to give a basket or fruits in the room but not this time. We love Pangkour luat but not sure if we will come back. If its your first time you will not notice the decline and you will still enjoy it.

The hotel is situated in a beautiful location but what makes it extra special are the staff. They were so attentive, everything was done with a smile and a 'can do attitude' . If you want to go somewhere to truly unwind and relax Pangkor Laut is to be recommended.

I don’t know if the YTL owners of Pangkor Laut Resort read these publiv reviews as they don’t seem to reply or respond - this would be my one suggestion to help future guests chose this resort. Based on the varied Google and Trip Advisor reviews, we were a bit nervous about what we’d find but our 6 day stay has been without fault. Our room (#366) was in the forest above the main restaurant, with unobstructed water and bush views and a covered deck and ceiling fan. The room was spacious and the fridge exceptionally cold (as is the AC if you want to chill down). Our room was serviced adequately everyday with fresh towels and water. The food was excellent - they do close 1 of the 3 main restaurants every other day - suggest booking ahead, particularly if it’s high season or the weekend. We particularly loved Fisherman’s Cove restaurant, more fine dining and slightly up in price on Feast Village. We didn’t pay for all-inclusive as I don’t know how anyone would cope with that amount of food - breakfast was included in our package and it was plentiful, then we paid for our evening meals and drinks. We spent ~2500 Ringgit on food and drinks across 5 nights (not eating lunch as we were not hungry). We loved Emerald Bay beach, didn’t dine at Chapman’s bar (located there) but this is only a lunch venue (and for happy hour 2 for 1 drinks 6-7:30pm). The pool was not busy at all and the nature walk was fun. We love an over water villa but we decided against one at Pangkor Laut as you can’t access the water from your villa or even swim on this side of the island (except in the pool). Everywhere was accessible via walking or buggies which never took long to arrive. We had curious (pesky) monkeys snooping around our villa but not often and not making eye contact with them (and locking our balcony door as they will try to get in) was the key to not being disturbed (they’re only after food). All in all we would recommend- it’s full on R&R so if that’s what you’re after - reading a good book or 3 from any of multiple locations, then do consider Pangkor Laut resort for a few days.

This was my second visit to PLR and I’m happy to say it is even better now than when I first visited several years ago. The location is perfect, the pool and spa are beautiful and now there are even more activities (we tried paddle boarding and pickle ball). But the thing that makes this place so special is the staff, everyone is so amazingly helpful and cheerful. They really try to accommodate every request. We had wonderful service whether we were by the pool, in the restaurants, enquiring at the front desk, talking to the tour guides and our yoga instructor. All wonderful friendly people from all around the region, we enjoyed chatting with them, learning about their background and more about Malaysia and PLR. Thank you to the whole team for helping us create some special memories, we love this resort and can’t wait to come back again soon !

From the moment we registered ourselves at Marine Jetty Complex, we were greeted with smiles and comfort. Upon reaching their, our check in was effortless and all the staffs there were on deck to make out stay there as comfortable as possible. Mr Segar was very pleasant in explaning to us the whole island experience. My visit to PLR was to celebrate my 25th Wedding anniversary and I have called ahead to the KL office hoping that they might surprise my wife during the stay. I am very pleased with what Ms Ivy Tan had helped prepared - a beautiful bed deco to greet us as we check into out room. I was also take aback by the sumptuous mean my guests and I had at Uncle Lim Restaurant. The complimentary bottle of Shiraz was excellent, as told by my guests. And of course, the framed picture of my wife and I as we were presented with a cake to celebrate the event. Thanks to Mr Segar, Ivy Tan and all the wonderful staffs at PLR. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to have a memorable event to go to PLR. And I would definitely visit PLR again, hopefully in the near future. Thank you for the wonderful memories.

My husband and I have heard positive feedback of Pangkor Laut Resort (in short, PLR) throughout our 20 years of marriage from friends, and we finally chose to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary here instead of travelling overseas. It turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve made. We booked a 3D2N stay at the Spa Villa under the Resident’s Package (inclusive of all meals and boat transfers) in September 2025, and our experience in PLR exceeded expectations in every way :) Here are some highlights that made our stay and anniversary truly memorable: 1. Privacy and tranquility – PLR offers an unmatched sense of seclusion and peace, something rare to find in many resorts (perhaps, we visited at a low season). 2. Picture perfect scenery – From sunrise view from the villa to sunset view and pristine beach at Emerald Bay, every view was just beautiful. We couldn’t resist taking nearly 300 photos around the island and resort, each a memory beautifully preserved. 3. Favorable weather – Sunny skies blessed most of our trip, with just a light drizzle on our final night. 4. All-inclusive dining – The Resident’s Package covered all meals, and we especially enjoyed the generous portion and delicious offerings at Uncle Lim’s Kitchen and Chapman’s Bar. 5. Warm hospitality – The friendliness and attentiveness of the resort staff made us feel genuinely welcomed. 6. Spa indulgence – We treated ourselves to a 3-hour Ayurvedic couple spa (paid separately), which included 4 bath houses, a full-body massage, hair treatment, facial, and a steam spa at the Spa Village. A truly heavenly relief for tired muscles. 7. Thoughtful amenities – Water stations were conveniently placed throughout the resort, and air-conditioned bathrooms ensured maximum comfort. We had no reason to be thirsty or feeling hot. 8. Personal touches – We were touched by the resort team’s thoughtful surprise: a beautifully decorated bed with fresh flowers and leaves from the garden, accompanied by a heartfelt congratulatory note from management to welcome our stay. Even the Reception team at Marina Island Jetty extended warm anniversary wishes in our 1st touchpoint with PLR. We are deeply impressed by how well-maintained this 31-year-old resort under YTL Hotels. As fellow Malaysians, we feel proud to have such a magical sanctuary just three hours’ drive from Kuala Lumpur via WCE. This may be our first visit to PLR, but it will certainly not be our last :) We recommend PLR for couples (on honeymoon, anniversaries), families and even friends' trip.
