"Cracking holiday - amazing service in a truly stunning and unique resort"

10.0

Great resort and stunning location comibined with amazing service. Everything seemed to be there just for us ... Nature - the occasional of crossing of paths with monitor lizards, encounters with cheeky horn-bills, teaming fish in the crystal waters under our sea villa, exciting appearance of otters, raucous twilight launch of the otherwise vey private bats and the frequent arrival of waves at "Chapmans" to add a little excitement to our sea swimming. Amenities - the food was superb, delivered by warm and friendly teams at the various eateries (restaurants / pool side / beach bar / buffets). The frequent shuttle across the island allowed flexibility in the day ...bouncing from buffet to pool to sea to tennis to games room to paddle board and back to sea ... etc. The gym was a let down - quite dated and needs a re-fresh. There could be more sun lounges - leading to "early towel reservation" and inevitable hogging. There is a great space for some outdoor Yoga - alas nothing organised or scheduled.

"A week of “chilling”"

10.0

We have just returned from a fabulous week at Pangkor Laut. If you are looking for a place to unwind this is it. From the moment you arrive, the staff make you feel welcome! The Beach Villa was spacious and close to all amenities, be it the pool, or restaurants. A short trip in a cart will deliver you to the other side of the island at Emerald Bay, where you just chill under the shade of fig tree and swim in tropical clear water. The staff throughout our stay were fantastic, engaging, polite and making sure everything was to your satisfaction. For those that want to “just chill” look no further….highly recommend.

"Paradise a second time"

10.0

Second time to this island paradise, but this time stayed at the beach villa. Amazing morning view! Loved it the first time, loved it even more the second time, though there were signs of age. However, a need to comment on the cleanliness of the room (nice and spacious). Do need more brushing and scrubbing. There were long hair floating on the tub, ugh.... some shelves have not been wiped for a while, and there were finger prints on the sliding door mirror. Pillows need to be changed or sun-ned. The smell kind of sticks to the hair. Other than this, food, staff were amazing! Kudos. Thank you YTL for this island paradise:)

"Breathtakingly Beautiful View"

10.0

Very beautiful resort. We stayed in Sea Villa and we had an amazing romantic escape. Food was amazing too.(Seafood selection were fresh) If you are looking for a silent escape and a little bit of adventure this is your call. Saw many different birds too. Hornbills were super cute. I celebrated my husband's birthday there. It was worth it. The Emerald Bay was very relaxing. Ms Dian and Mr Segar were both very helpful and friendly. All the staffs were nice and polite. On another note, room was a little dusty ( a good wipe down will do the trick) Food potion is big, so make sure go with an empty stomach( trust me you won't regret it, food is yummylicious) The wooden walkway to our room, four of the wooden planks were a bit shaky, I am pretty sure they will fix it soon. Noticed few rubbish washed up by the beach near to our villa, I am sure this is from elsewhere, maybe a biweekly clean up is possible. Let's see how the resort works on it. I am sure certain things can't be controlled. Overall, it was a great escape and a nice holiday. Will come back soon. Xx

"A Truly Memorable Stay at Pangkor Laut Resort"

10.0

We had such a wonderful time at Pangkor Laut Resort (PLR) – it truly felt like a special escape. From the start, the staff made us feel seen and cared for. They greeted us by name and knew exactly what package we were on. Their attentiveness stood out throughout our stay; they were always warm, accommodating, and eager to ensure we had everything we needed. We took part in a couple of activities: the Jungle Walk was an informative and engaging experience. The Spa Village offered a relaxing atmosphere, though the massage session felt a little short at 50 minutes. Emerald Bay was simply beautiful! We spent much of our time there swimming and relaxing – the beach is pristine, and the sea’s gentle, undulating waves made it hard to leave. For Malaysians and Singaporeans, PLR's Resident’s Package is highly recommended. It’s great value and helps take the guesswork out of meals, which can be on the pricier side (range of RM45–80 per dish). All in all, PLR gave us a memorable experience – one that lingers long after you leave. We’re already dreaming about our next visit there!

"Lovely location and people"

8.0

Positives: - Beautiful setting - jungle with lots of interesting flora and fauna, lovely white sandy beach. Felt safe and secure. - World class spa with its own bar and pool, with a great range of different Asian-inspired facilities and treatments. The bathhouses ritual is a real highlight. - Staff (a mix of Malay, Balinese, Filipino and Indian sub-continent) were very kind and friendly. - Lots of local cuisine on the menus to sample. Uncle Lim’s food was particularly good, and so was the banana leaf curry at Chapman’s. - Very informative free “jungle walk” guided by one of the island’s naturalists. - Good shuttle bus service around the resort. Areas for improvement: - Service in the main restaurant can be hit and miss sometimes. Simple things like drinks not arriving before food, not clearing dirty plates from the table, and not checking in on guests. - Wi-fi was quite unreliable and required constant manual reconnection. Don’t count on it for any work purposes! - Would be nice to have more healthy options eg salads on the menus. Only the Spa Village bar had these, and families were not allowed there. - The water activity team is small and if they are taking a few guests out fishing or snorkelling for a few hours, it means that noone else can do any water sports at that time (eg kayaking or paddleboarding). - The sports equipment (basketball, tennis rackets/pickleball bats and balls) kept vanishing. I’d recommend taking your own if playing is important to you. - Frustratingly, 11-15 year olds are charged the same as adults, but are significantly restricted in terms of what they can do (and accordingly so are adults in their party). They are not allowed into the Spa Village or its lunch venue, or the Fisherman’s Cove restaurant, and many of the activities (eg the fitness centre) are off limits without a parent present. There need to be more walk-up activities open to families (I don’t mean sitting playing computer games or watching TV) as it is too easy to run out of things to do if you are there for more than 3-4 nights.

"So much better than it looks!"

10.0

You know how sometimes you see photos of an island or a resort, and then the real thing doesn’t live up to them? Pangkor Laut was the exact opposite - my expectations were blown away. No photo you see does it justice. The island, water and jungle are absolutely stunning and the resort fits tastefully into its surroundings and is pretty eco friendly. It has a distinctly Malaysian feeling which I loved, rather than being a “modern” resort which could be anywhere and isn’t true to its surroundings. We were blown away by how quiet it was. We felt like we had the whole island to ourselves - there is no fighting for a pool lounger here. We stayed in a sea villa which was absolutely lovely. I do think a couch would be nice, and more storage in the HUGE bathroom. The staff are friendly and attentive but not intrusive. We never had to wait longer than about 3 minutes for a bus around the resort. The spa was absolutely lovely and so reasonably priced by Australian standards. The little things like the Nap Villas are amazing. We were also really pleasantly surprised by the food. We’d just come from 5 days in KL eating super local amazing food. and thought the food would be noticeably worse and it wasn’t - it felt local and authentic and every restaurant we tried, we loved. By resort standards, it was really good (and we are food snobs) We only saw one monkey (and we went looking for it!) and loved the wildlife. The hornbills are cute - they hope for your food, but they just wait respectfully hoping for a crumb. Emerald Bay was stunning thought the water is too high in sediment for good snorkelling. My minor complaint isn’t really the fault of the resort, but rubbish from the Melaka Straits which washes over from the main Pangkor Island is often visible in the water around the sea villas. They need to send someone around collecting it daily in a sea kayak. We are Australian and whilst we love our fellow countrymen, it was lovely to see so few Aussie and feel we were somewhere less touristy than Langkawi or Penang. PGL has a lot of Asian guests mostly; and then Europeans. We had a half board package which included breakfast and dinner. We didn’t skimp on lunch and drinks and snacks and spa treatments and were so pleasantly surprised when we checked out at how reasonable it was. I nearly cried as we left to see the end of the lush green beautiful jungle island. Honestly - if you get the chance - go here…

"Exceptional"

10.0

As a family of 3, we had a fabulous 4 night stay at Pangkor Laut as part of a 3 week adventure around Malaysia/Singapore. It was certainly one of our highlights. We were whisked away by speedboat to the resort - we felt like VIPs! Such a warm welcome from staff on arrival. We stayed in the sea villas which were well appointed. This resort is super special - the rainforest & wildlife (loved the hornbills and watch out for the thieving monkeys), beautiful Emerald Bay - do not miss the sunsets, we spent hours wave jumping there, fabulous spa and great food (we loved Uncle Lims). The staff here do a fabulous job of getting to know the guests - special shout out to Apon. The only negative was having to leave after 4 nights!

"It kept to its reputation, highly recommended."

10.0

Received very good reviews of this resort from few of my friends, and finally we could plan a vacation in PLR resort. We just returned after 4D3N stay and I can understand now why it has high ratings. The staffs were amazing, very kind and helpful. Since we had a senior family member in the group, they provided as much support as possible to make the stay comfortable for us. Overall the facilities are great and it is an equally ideal retreat for both families and couples. Thank you PLR team! After quite a few good experiences for last few years I now really trust YTL chain of hotels.
