Pangkor Laut Resort

My partner and I, together with my dad, visited for 3 nights. We arrived and were greeted by lovely staff. We had booked the Hill Villa and Sea Villa. The Hill Villa was spacious, with nice views of the sea. The Sea Villa was smaller but was special as it was perched on stilts on the water. Overall, the stay was good, food was great and staff were friendly and always happy to help. But we felt it was overpriced and our experience could have been better. It is no doubt that this is an expensive stay, and when compared to other resorts/hotels at a similar price point, Pangkor Laut Resort fell short. Cleanliness is something we really are particular about, and we found that our room was always dusty and not cleaned well. The vanity units were not wiped properly on a few occassions. We mentioned this a couple of times to the front desk, and this improved slightly, but still not to a standard we expect a 5-star resort to be. There was also A LOT of flies at all times over all the food, especially at breakfast. The breakfast buffet was poorly covered and often there were flies walking all over the food, which we then had to avoid eating. On our last morning there, just to top it all off, as we were walking past the egg station, a small rat/mouse scurried across the floor into the kitchen. We couldn't leave the breakfast buffet quickly enough! All in all, a fairly average stay. For a 5-star resort in a great location, Pangkor Laut Resort has potential to be a fantastic place to visit, but sadly we will not come back. We would recommend other hotels/resorts instead, like The Ritz Carlton or The Datai in Langkawi.

What can I say that has not been said before, basically nothing. Pangkor Laut is a wondefful hotel on a beatiful island, but this is not what makes it special, that would be the staff. All of the staff from gardeners, to waiters, to managers, are just the best. They are professional, efficient, hard working and yet friendly, without the staff all you have is a hotel, a lovely hotel, but just a hotel. So, thanks to all the staff for looking after us like kings and queens, we will be back (again) for our third visit. I was unwell whilst on holiday and the hotel staff could not have done more for me, thank goodness it was only for a couple of days, but the service I received was second to none. Thanks you all for your help and care. We hope to see you all again soon.

Just returned from an unforgettable stay at Pangkor Laut Resort. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm hospitality and breathtaking views. The villas - especially the ones over the water are beautifully designed and offer complete privacy with stunning ocean vistas. Emerald Bay is a highlight - soft white sand, turquoise water, and peaceful surroundings. The dining experiences were top-notch, with Fisherman’s Cove being a personal favorite. Every staff member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a luxurious, serene escape surrounded by nature. We'll definitely be back!

Our stay here was truly something unique. The combination of warmth, a sense of family, and absolute luxury is simply perfect. From the moment of arrival at the private pier, where you're welcomed by the team, to the moment of departure, every wish is fulfilled, and you completely leave the ordinary world behind. From deep-sea fishing to total relaxation in the one-of-a-kind spa, this place offers everything one could possibly dream of during a holiday. Thank you so much for this wonderful stay.

We arrived for a week in Pangkor Laut as a group of three couples. We stayed in the idyllic location of the Spa Villas , which were so peaceful and quiet. The transport too and from the Villas was easy to obtain and frequent. The walk to breakfast , viewing the wildlife was also an enjoyable experience, albeit too hot and humid in the evenings to walk for any length of time. The food in all three restaurants was of high quality, but our particular favourite in an evening was the Fisherman’s cove restaurant. The food , view and staff were outstanding. Ours day were split between the Spa pool and Emerald bay. The Three hour Spa treatment was sensational, so much so, we had to repeat it ! Our special thanks must go to Michael and Riaz for making our days, lunchtimes and cocktail hour so very memorable at the beach at Emerald bay . We at no time received anything other than 5* treatment from all staff and we would like to thank you all for! Xx

Couldn’t fault this place, exceptional. Family of four, two pre-teen kids, stayed for five days. The accomodation is rustic and beautiful, the setting is just stunning, the service is five star and the people are so lovely. The lobby area/restaurants and pool speaks for itself, amazing. The photos don’t do this place justice, it is much nicer on arrival. Special mention to Santhosh, Magus, THT and Einstein for making our trip even more special which included a private teppanyki dinner for my son’s birthday celebration. We also did a day trip to Pangkor island which we all loved. Thank for PLR for giving us family memories to cherish forever :)

The resort is beautiful. The location is stunning. The rain forrest is preserved and protected. The hotel is nestled into the nature. We visited the hotel in April for 10 nights as a family of 3. The positives are as follows: Beautiful island. Stunning beach at Chapmans Bar with never feels overcrowded. Staff are amazing. The staff at reception, pool bar, Feast Village, Fishernans Cove were exceptional. Jungle Walks with very knowledgeable staff. Food was sublime. The food was of a very high standard at the pool bar, Feast Village, Fisherman's Cove and Chapmans Bar. The buffet restaurant at Feast Village was great, especially the Malaysia Night on Saturday evening. Breakfast at Feast Village was excellent. Friendly helpful staff who deliver coffee as soon as you sit down. Wide selection of fruits, continental options, oriental options, Indian options, fresh bread, pastries, juicing bar and egg station. The pastry chefs are very talented, deserts around the resort are amazing. Wildlife including hornbeam birds, lizards, monkeys, geckos, sea eagles, owls, flying fox bats, snakes and wild boat can be seen. Spa is excellent, reasonable prices, good facilities and staff. The Malay Bath House experience is not to be missed. Pro active management who addressed issues professionally. However our experience was not entirely positive. Many issues are not the fault of the resort and we would definitely return to the island and reccomend everyone to visit. The negatives are as follows: The resort is very quiet, no entertainment at night. That is not a negative for many but I would not reccomend the resort for families with teenagers. The standard 1 bed villas are perfect for couples. However the sea and spa villas do not allow children under the age of 16 to reside in them. The beach and cliff villas provide a small made up bed on the built in window seat. It's very small and my not huge 11yo fell out of bed 3 x as it was narrow and not a full size single. The bathroom has no lock on it, only sliding doors. The toilet and shower cubicles have see through glass on it. Not easy to keep privacy from children if they share the room. The resort is not wheelchair, push chair friendly with many steps throughout the resort. Housekeeping was not 5* in quality. A toothpaste stain in bathroom was not washed off in 10 days. Shower not regularly cleaned. Water bottles and coffee capsules not refilled. Steps to villa were not swept for leaves and branches at all. Gym is not well maintained or cleaned. Bike machine broken and gears not working so just spins wildly. Running machine belt worn and torn, dangerous to use. Bolt missing from bench press, all issues were reported but no repairs made or inspections. Games room is tired with broken equipment. Broken sun bed with nails sticking out at pool was reported to staff. I was advised that as it still works as a bed it's not a problem, even with broken wood on the ground. Broken hot tub. Overall we would highly recommend this resort for couples for a 5 or 7 night stay. But not for families with children between ages of 7 to 15. Thank you to PLR for a memorable holiday and with the high quality of management that they employ we are certain the minor issues will be resolved and we look forward to another (child free) visit in the future

Very nice sea and forest resort for a relaxed holiday Good room, good restaurants, good food, good facilities and good service. The staff here are all well train and they are always smiling and show their readiness to serve. Best resort I had ever stay, will definitely come back again.

I used to come to this island as a child with my parents and older brothers in the 1960s when there was nothing on it so, when I visited Malaysia for the first time since I left (58 years ago!!!) I had to come to Pangkor Laut. The resort, the island.... everything about it is absolutely beautiful. It's not a cheap holiday by any means, but it's worth every penny. The staff were fantastic. The guest director (Segar) even helped me to sort out a visit to my dad's old office and our old house on the rubber estate where we lived in 1965-67! Pangkor Laut will forever hold a special place in my memory.

Stayed 11 nights on a breakfast/evening meal deal. Highly recommended. Its worth paying the extra to include meals on your visit as you have access to all the restaurants with Fishermans Coves being outstandingly good. The staff are excellent, especially Segar who went the extra mile to ensure we had a holiday to remember. Nothing was too much trouble. We stayed in the Hill Villas for five days - be warned they can be a trek, but are very good. We stayed in the Sea Villas for six days which are fabulous. Do the sunset cruise. The guys are brilliant fun especially Joseph. We loved the resort - give it a go!!
