Park Inn by Radisson Cardiff City Centre

This hotel closed mid July but failed to inform us of this fact! The Monday before we were due to visit, I received an email from Park Inn saying the staff couldn’t wait to welcome us. I had booked Early Check In and nothing was flagged that the hotel was shut. We arrived and there were signs written on A4 paper saying the hotel was closed. It left a number to contact. While I was ringing the number, I got an email to say my stay was cancelled! No one answered the phone. I have had no contact at all. Absolutely shocking from a hotel linked to the Radisson group.

Very Clean and tidy

I've travelled all over the world, long before tripadvisor was even thought of but I've never had such a bad experience as when staying at this hotel. 33 degree heat and no air conditioning in the room is really poor and the fact that no hand towels are provided is just bizarre - I've never experience that anywhere before. Only two lifts serving five floors and one of them has been out of action for many, many months. The other lift is unreliable and has a mind of it's own - it kept going down to the basement even though there was no-one there and no-one wanted to go there. Inevitably this lift gave up one day leaving my wheelchair-bound wife trapped on the third floor. Now you would expect some empathy and concern by staff but all we had from reception was a shrug and the words 'Make a complaint then' Staggering response. Then there is the issue of the car park for which we paid £55 for 72 hours parking only to find it closed one day. We were directed to use the staff car park instead only to then receive a parking fine which the hotel has not rescinded or made any effort to compensate us despite only parking there on their specific direction. Has anyone ever got an answer from their telephone ? I have spent 4 hours ringing at all times of the day and no-one has ever picked up the 'phonwe. Similarly with their e-mails - they have only responded once to half a dozen emails. Clearly this hotel hotel is shambolic and customer service is non-existent. I will be interested to get a response from the staff explaining why no-one answers the 'phone or reponds to e-mails. My advice - avoid, avoid, avoid.

Comfortable room right in the city centre, very friendly and helpful staff.

The room had no air conditioning so was hot - opening the window helped but then we were woken very early by construction works right outside the hotel.

Perfect location to go for a wander, see the castle, eat in a restaurant and drive to the ferry the next day.
