Staff were efficient and friendly. Good was excellent. Room dated but comfortable.

Lift was out of order and had been for a week apparently. Many elderly and infirm staying so that was poor.

Lovely old building

Lift out of action we were on the second floor they should have told us no lift beforehand They could have given us a room on the first floors on view of age and multiple stairs

"With some work, this could be a spectacular hotel."

4.0

The Buckley Hotel is in a beautiful position. Our room had a view of the Menai Straits and Snowdonia which is hard to beat. The buidling itself is very attractive. The size and the propostions of the rooms are perfect, with tall sash windows in the Georgian style. While it situated on the seafront, where there is parking and pleasant flower borders and tables for outside eating, the main entrance is on the main street, with boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants pubs, bars and hitorical attractions such as the Castle, old Court House, the Old goal etc.

Sadly the interior decoration leads a lot to be desired. There are no flower arrangements or pillows to soften the public rooms. The Strait entrance which is a pretty room with an attractive desk arrangement has been destroyed by an icegream container and a glass displaycase usually found in bakeries etc, now covered by a sheet. Througout the hotel furniture is placed oddly with no apparent thought of aestetic or even useful purpose. Too many jewellry showcases are dottrd around. I had booked the Buckley because of my husband as due to a stroke he has mobility issues, and had informed them of this and requested suitable accommodation/bathroom. 1. the lift did not work. It had broken the day before so we could have been informed. 2. the bathroom had a tub and was not at all suitable for a handicapped person. The service was ok in parts. The new owners would be adviced to bring in experts in lhow to give upmarket service. The kitchen needs to update its menus. Breakdfast service was so so. The owners would be well adviced to bring in interior decorators who are trained to decorate up market hotels. Anglesey has not, to my knowledge, got a hotel with such potential as the Buckly in Baumaris. The buidling itself is beautiful. The position is perfect. It is very big - but there is absolutely no charm, and little comfort. The first floor area could do with a serious rethink in terms of layout, from the entrance onwards. As it is there is a lot of confusion and it comes across as amateurish. It is sad because the hotel, with the right approach, could become the best upmarket in Anglesey and Gwynedd. The area could really do with that. Presently it is by some meassure the most expensive hotel in Beaumaris, and does just not deliver at any level. It is a sad experienced.

"The Buckley Hotel, Beaumaris."

The staff where amazing, really helpful, I had a fall and hurt my foot, so had to cut short my stay, Bethan who was one of the cleaning staff was so lovely even giving me a foot support stocking of her own , I want to thank her again for this. And the lady on reception and also thank you to Liz the hotel manager. The hotel food is amazing, and the hotel is in a very good position and free parking too 😀

Our room was a cozy double and was a little small, but we chose this room and was value for money, I would return but I would get a bigger room next time.

Location ,Room, Decor, ambience

Young staff all very helpful but would benefit with training. Ie No system in dining room. Bar staff not trained to make real cocktails. Lift out of service and the older clients were struggling and needed more help.

"We would return for the location , staff , ckeanliness, and good quality breakfast ,"

8.0

Location, fabulous, the front entrance is right in the middle of Beaumaris Main Street and the rear is overlooking the sea, the pier and the stunning Snowdonia mountains. Staff, all the staff and that’s every single person we encounter where the best we have encountered on our trip in North wales having visited 3 hotels ,they where truly outstanding lovely welcome from reception staff made us feel special as soon as we arrived, bar staff brilliant always genuine smiles couldn’t do enough. I asked if there was any Welsh gins as this had been a feature in the other places we had stayed and the young man said there was Anglesey flavoured gins in the other bar so he ran to get the only 3 bottles for me to choose. I’m not a fan of the flavoured gins but seeing as he went out of his way I choose the rhubarb and vanilla which was actually very nice. Breakfast staff where a bit behind with service but again so nice ,apologised for the wait which again felt genuine and with a smile we could see they where rushed and because of the sincere apology we really did not mind. The cleaning staff of which we saw 4 lovely ladies again so pleasant and seemed happy and I have to say our small room at the top was emaculate not even a mark around the base of the taps we where very impressed. The hotel is huge with lots of lovely areas to sit very comfortable lounge with sofas and armchairs some impressive chandeliers and grand staircase which make it feel a bit grand .

The property is dated but the porch at the entrance had been given a nice modern update and if this continues throughout some of the other areas it will look amazing. The lift had broken and it was a hell of a climb up 2 lots of staircases to our 2nd floor room 222 and we saw an elderly couple struggling to navigate the staircase and also the poor cleaning ladies up and down but one lady still made a joke of it. It was a blip I’m sure it works most of the time . Would have been nice to stock Welsh gins and whiskeys .
