Ambleside Salutation Hotel & Spa

Lovely hotel, very professional and friendly staff. Our room was airy and comfortable with a lovely balcony overlooking the beck, the sound of the waterfall was very relaxing. The breakfast has plenty of choice and was beautifully cooked and presented. We have stayed at the Salutation a number of times and it never disappoints; we had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and look forward to returning.

Great hotel but 2 things stood out: the spa and the staff - absolutely brilliant

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed in. We had a hot tub on our balcony and the room was lovely and spacious, very comfortable and the best night sleep.

Great hotel, great location and lovely staff. Very welcoming and friendly. Bus 591, 555 stops just outside the hotel and can take you anywhere whether it’s Windermere, Grasmere, Keswick all very easy to commute. Some great restaurants around. Staff extremely friendly at the reception. Breakfast top notch - 10/10 for Manuel who takes orders at the brekkie area , always smiling. Would highly recommend.

We had a lovely stay, the hotel couldn’t have been better positioned, we parked the car up when we arrived and didn’t use it until we left. The staff were all really friendly and helpful and the facilities were very good, the pool was a little cold for me but my girlfriend loved it as she did 60 lengths every morning, I managed to pass the time in the outdoor jacuzzi quite well though lol.

Lovely room. Very clean and comfortable. Excellent housekeeping. Delicious breakfast. Very good service. Fabulous facilities with gym, pool, jacuzzi and steam room plus spa treatments. Parking is limited but managed to get parked at the rear after going out. Ambleside is so nice. Great shopping and places to eat. Exceptional recommendations for dining are The Apple Pie cafe and Finellis vegetarian restaurant (extremely tasty although portions too large for us). Plenty to do in the area. Hawkshead, Windermere cruises, Bowness, Beatrix Potter at Hill Top to name only a few. Highly recommend.

This hotel has a really warm and homely feel to it. The room and communal area is not modern but in a good state of repair, clean, and welcoming. Bed/linen clean and comfortable. Bathroom small but clean and perfectly usable. Our room had a seating area and patio door onto balcony providing a great space to sit and get fresh air. Nice touch to have a small fridge in room supplied with bottled water each day. Leisure facilities are well maintained and clean. Small pool but enough for an easy swim. Relaxation area and outdoor hot tub are a lovely addition. Didn’t use the treatment rooms but good range on offer. Well equipped gym which I didn’t use but it looked more than decent. Food both at breakfast and evening was absolutely fabulous. Lounge area was cosy and comfortable. All the staff were pleasant and worked hard to be attentive with all guests. Free parking which is always a welcome bonus. All in all a really nice place to stay, I have no hesitation in recommending it and I would definitely return.

Lovely hotel with excellent staff. Very clean, quiet to say it is based in a central location. The parking is a challenge but just needs careful driving skills. The breakfast is plentiful and tasty. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are well lit with plenty of storage. The towels are large and comfortable. There could be a little more by the way of toiletries, no conditioner provided for example but this is a minor niggle. This is our second stay and we would return again.
