Spice Village - Cgh Earth

My 3rd stay in this peaceful hotel. Our own thatched quiet cottage with all you could wish for in your clean room and more. Spacious accommodation and bathroom. Superb buffet with vast choice of dishes for breakfast and evening meals. Friendly staff. Pleasant gardens to have a sit down for a rest. As you step out of the hotel lots of local shop to browse. Some activities if required during your stay. Food demonstration, local dancing, paper making. etc

Amazing overall experience, the hotel and the staff are amazing. We also attended the naturalistic talk done by the naturist Krishnadas and it was really cool and interesting. We recommend it 100%

Typically CGH Hotels are amazing sustainable properties using NO plastic or harsh chemicals of any kind, with diverse historical backgrounds excellent accommodations, service and food. This property was NO exception!!! Instead of a large hotel, it is comprised of several smaller ‘out buildings’, and the hotel rooms are individual bungalows spread out amongst others on this hilly terrain. So views are stunning with lots of monkeys and exotic birds. Service was excellent.

We had a wonderful experience with CGH Earth and especially Spice Village. The drivers, waitstaff, and activity leaders particularly enhanced our time in Kerala. The facilities were exceptionally maintained and each of our dining experiences was pleasant and delicious, providing us with wholesome and tasty sustenance to power our excursions and activities. Of particular note, our guide for two nature hikes, Krishnadas KM provided a special touch, taking some excellent photos of our hikes and sending them to us after, along with an ebird list that he compiled for each walk. Also of note, Francis took me in last minute and taught me how to play Snooker. He was exceptionally patient with my terrible performance and made our time at the AW Woods lounge truly entertaining. Finally, I want to thank the admin staff for securing our room for an extra evening on short notice. We really appreciated the chance to sneak a little extra time in at your beautiful resort. Thanks and kudos to all your staff that made our time so special.

Beautiful property looked after by lovely people. Kumily itself is touristy and scruffy compared to the perfection inside the resort. IMO lighting in rooms needs improvement. Even with all the lights on it was dark. However this seems to be a thing in Kerala. Restaurant lovely but I would avoid the buffet unless you can eat a lot as it’s relatively expensive. The property tour is very interesting.

A lovely hotel and a great stay. The rooms were wonderfully appointed with everything we could have needed and the hotel is in a great location. We were very lucky to see a whole troop of monkeys in the grounds one morning whilst walking to breakfast! The food on the buffet was wonderful with good vegan options and they were very happy to cater for our dietary requirements and the chef cooked extra items for us, which were all delicious and much appreciated. The little shop on site had some lovely items for sale and all at good prices - worth a visit. We had a little hiccup on checking out regarding a jar of cashew nuts in the mini bar that had been opened (not by us), but this was all resolved on departure. Would definitely recommend a stay at this beautiful hotel.

Must-try experience with Spice Village. Krishna is an exceptional naturalist—deeply knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely passionate about the forest. He made our Gavi safari in Periyar truly special with his sharp spotting skills, clear explanations, and warm guidance. Thanks to him, we understood the wildlife, history, and beauty of the region so much better. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Gavi!

We stayed three nights and had a fantastic stay at Spice Village. Rooms were top-notch, restaurant was very high quality and the facilities on top were high class. We especially loved our border hike and nature walk, the second being with the naturalist Krishna who was very knowledgeable and made the day very special. We would highly recommend this property for any nature lovers who love to relax in luxury after a long day trying to spot elephants and tigers in the Western Ghats!

Had a wonderful time with activities organized by CGH. My guide, KrishnaDas, was fantastic on both the nature walk in the forest and Gavi trip . Very knowledgeable and enthusiastic . Highly recommend Accommodation is eco friendly and very good

We stayed in this wonderful eco resort as part of a tour group. Each couple had a wonderful thatched hut set amongst the large range of trees (all trees named which was great). There's a bar in a building over 100 years old plus a restaurant with some very tasty food on offer. And we got to see some traditional dance showcasing the talents of two very skillful young women. Very peaceful and relaxing. And the accommodation was clean and quite spacious.
