Spice Village - Cgh Earth

The experience was absolutely fantastic and amazing. We were impressed by the self sufficiency and sustainability of the resort. Also we were impressed by the knowledge of the Coordinator - Krishnadas who explained us the resort values and the concept of values of resort along with paper making. Overall its serenity, in the middle of natural, and an experience to have. We loved it. All the staff members including Thomas, Jabin and Ann Maria were welcoming.

Ruined my anniversary ... Such boring vibes.. bathroom shower doesn't work.. shampoo bottles ..none of them were working even after informing..such old boring property . Nothing much for vegetarians... Good for nris but definitely not for Indians .. we spent 20k for one night ..but not enjoyed for one rs. front office staff is very nice but restaurant staff gives u such weird looks if you are an Indian. In the evening we went for cooking class what they arranged but chef totally ignored us, talking only to NrI and teaching them only. For them only chairs were there..we stood for three four minutes then came.. also at restaurant after paying also you can't ask extra roti etc..the guy who served us during our anniversary dinner was behaving like he is serving us for free..he even went to extent saying us that this much will be enough for you .. guys if u want only nris pls mention indins not allowed..wasted 20k and spoiled anniversary day

When we arrived in Thekkady our initial thought was that there were lots of resorts all squashed into a smallish area next to the main entrance to the Periyar Tiger Reserve. However, once you were through the gate of Spice Village it felt like you were in a peaceful oasis. CGH have done a great job of making the resort feel special and quiet. We stayed for two nights in one of the Deluxe cottages and it was worth paying the extra for such a great space - it really did feel special. Food at the resort was excellent. We ate at both the main restaurant and the smaller "50 mile" restaurant. It was great to be able to relax on the veranda at the bar with a cocktail and watch the wildlife within the resort. Rahul the barman was very friendly and helpful. The manager of the resort made us feel very welcome and went out of her way to check in with us and make sure everything was just so. We went on one of the early morning treks in the reserve and the team at Spice Village helped set that up and made sure it all went smoothly. It really was worth getting up early to see various wildlife whilst walking with a guide through the forest. This really was a highlight of our South India trip. A big thank you to all the team at Spice Village for making this such a great part of our trip.

Centrally located in lush green surroundings with trees, looks like undisturbed nature. The cottages are with traditional roof. Exceptional service, great choice who want to slow down for few days and enjoy life.

I’m torn about this place. I genuinely loved almost everything, the room, the ambiance, the food, and the warmth of the staff. But the reception team really let us down. We came to Periyar hoping to spot wildlife. We know sightings depend on season and luck, so our expectations were realistic. But instead of any actual Periyar safari, we were sent to Gavi Dam, a completely different location altogether. While Gavi was beautiful in its own way, it was nothing like what we’d come for. The experience was misrepresented. We were told conflicting stories about whether cars could go inside, and a “special naturalist” needed etc. The whole safari arrangement felt like a scam or, at best, a badly informed operation. Also, a small but important point, the washroom ventilation needs serious improvement. Loved the property, but because of the misleading and overpriced safari experience, I can only give 2 stars.

Best CGH Property! Amazing staff! Renju, the AGM goes above and beyond! We came back this year and the service is phenomenal. Great food and service at the restaurant by chef Shinto and staff! Great relaxing, rejuvenating experience. The staff take care of all your needs and the ambience is so inviting to have a calm and relaxed stay!

Our stay at Spice Village, Thekkady, was a beautiful experience. The resort is truly built into nature , surrounded by greenery and birdsong, with cottages that reminded me of traditional Kerala huts, rarely seen nowadays. The restaurant experience was excellent. Both Kerala specialties and continental options were delicious — I personally loved the Dosa! Special thanks to staff members like Vijay, Robin, and Amal who were incredibly kind and attentive to our group at the longer dining table. The chefs prepared wonderful meals, and the reception staff were courteous and helpful throughout. The complimentary tea time with the charming Kerala tea shop setup was particularly memorable. With the soft drizzle in the background, it felt magical. The staff there went out of their way to accommodate the specific preferences of some elderly family members, who had very particular tastes when it came to tea. I truly appreciate their understanding and professionalism in such moments. Overall, the experience felt rooted in nature, peace, and hospitality. A big thank you to the entire team at Spice Village for making our stay so memorable.

Spice Village was a highlight of our 3-week holiday. Beautiful, clean accommodation, the food is the best we had on our trip - think fresh, spicy, authentic. The taste lingers in my memories. Our naturalist guide Alka was amazing. Her knowledge, enthusiasm and ability to share and impart her expertise made our trekking (walking and rafting) and safari days out so interesting and magical. She looked after us so well. It was joyful. Thank you Alka. Also special thanks to Francis who taught us how to play games again. He spent time showing and playing solitaire, Chromino and other fun board games from a whole array in the Club House. This means more than you can know. We now continue to play these games at home and will take them with us when we travel. Thank you to both these fantastic people and all at Spice Village. I call it a playground for adults with an enthusiasm and genuine desire to want to welcome guests in a nurturing, low key and meaningful way. Make this your number one priority place to visit. It will not disappoint.
