Spice Village - Cgh Earth

Fantastic bungalow, food, staff and grounds. Wish we could have stayed longer than two nights. Bungalow very clean and comfortable with everything you could need. Grounds had lots of wildlife and was a great place to wander around if you love birds. Peaceful and relaxing setting.

We absolutely LOVED staying at spice village. It’s eco friendly and people friendly! We loved how much emphasis they give on sustainability and nature and you really feel the staff’s passion! Spice village has activities such as paper making and cooking classes which were a big highlight for us! We loved the energy of the chef and Ashly (who led our paper making workshop) was just 5 stars! I don’t think we ever saw him without a smile in his face. We felt very much at home and we were sad to leave after a couple of nights. We definitely want to go back!

An amazing experience at Spice village Thekkady. The stay was just for one night and it was made memorable by Ashley and Rahul. The entire staff was very courteous and made us felt at home. The property is one where u spend a couple of days listening to the murmurs of the birds and animals. Ashley was very helpful with us in guiding us in the property, taking bird watching and animal lessons. He also accompanied is with the boat trip and was of great help. Thank you so much team and kudos for the courtesy provided.

This is a beautifully maintained resort. The restaurant is lovely with great food choices and an excellent breakfast. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable with a great bathroom and shower. Whilst we understand they can be frustrating for the staff, we also enjoyed watching the monkeys! After a busy few days it was nice to have some downtime by the pool but the service was very slow. Staff could be more proactive to see if you need anything and the drinks should not take as long as they did once ordered.

Spice Village is a property that you will fall in love with if you appreciate peace and quiet. The property is designed tastefully yet staying eco conscious so that there is minimal waste. A lot of thought is given in every single aspect of design and utility. The food is amazing. There is loads to do here starting from fun games to cultural performances. But what makes it most memorable is the team here. They are very hospitality and eager to help you, really best at what they do. A special shout out to Ashley who helped us plan and make our stay better here. Also, Siji, Girish and Francis were simply the best, they went to extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our time. Can’t wait to be here again and for a longer stay!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel, which was our favourite place on our tour of Kerala. Everything was perfect – from the warm and efficient welcome on arrival, the beautiful accommodation, the inclusion of fresh coffee and a plunger in the room (such a bonus!), the clean and refreshing swimming pool, and the beautiful food – I highly recommend the chilli fish entree! The grounds were kept immaculate and there were lots of extra activities, such as cooking classes, etc, run by the hotel. The staff went over and above for my husband’s 50th birthday, making him a lovely chocolate cake that was divine, and really making it a birthday to remember. Thank you everybody for a wonderful stay.

Lovely room and shower room. Clean, tidy and well maintained. Surrounded by wildlife. Great location. Good security. Food and hospitality amazing Great reactants and lovely old fashioned bar. Nice pool. Close to town if you fancy a bimble. Lots of Brits to chat to and swap stories.

The resort is a collection of thatched huts within easy walking distance of the local attractions. The huts are very well equipped but suffer from the occasional power outage. The staff are very friendly and passionate about conservation, being on the edge of the Periyar National Park. The restaurant serves a la carte as well as buffet meals and even offered shepherds pie one evening (though maybe not as we know it!) The chef gives a cookery demonstation most evenings and will e-mail his recipes on request. There are guinea fowl running freely around the site along with a troop of mischievous macaque monkeys who try to raid the bins! The birds are many and various and sing very early in the morning, (you hear them as there are just shutters and fly screens on the windows!) A delightful stay if you love being close to nature.

Our first experience with CGH earth and it was wonderful. The resort is conceptualised to create its own ecosystems and it does. Bats, butterflies, owls, herons and amazing flora too. The biodiversity is stunning to see. At the gate of Periyar national park it has very well trained naturalists to add to your walks, treks and bamboo rafting experience. The food is great and the bar is outstanding ! Children just love it with scavenger hunt, pepper vine trail, cooking demos and spice talks. If you have a child who enjoys nature and can be sans screens this is ideal.
