Spice Village - Cgh Earth

This is an amazing place to stay in this natural park area. The cottages on the property are beautifully cared for - modern, clean and restful. The restaurant offers a great buffet - food up to a good quality - not gastronomique level in India but fine - and the programs offered - like the dance performances - are great. The pool is nice and the natural surroundings - with monkeys and birds all around - is unique and wonderful. The staff is first class and great. Get a local massage in the nearby town, pick up spices at local stores, go to a dance performance and enjoy the park for its incredible wildlife - take a morning hike with a guide (forget about the park boat ride - a waste of time!) The Spice Village is a wonderful place to relax after a long day exploring nature.

This was an incredible part of my trip to South India. Spice Village was beautiful, with amazing staff, great food and an ideal location. One thing I wish to highlight is my experience with Ashly, the naturalist on site who offers guests nature tours. His tour around the property revealed many species we would never have found on our own. Well worth it. A friend and I became interested in a local bat colony. Ashly helped us learn all about them with wonderful enthusiasm. He taught us facts about their behaviours, took us off site to where we could spot them waking and flying en mass and made every effort to support and grow our interest. Ashly went above and beyond to make our visit special, he was terrific.

Beautifully nestled in the village, this gem of a hotel was a perfect retreat for our girls trip as part of a tour of South India. We spent two evenings and had such great experiences. The Tiger reserve is exceptional down the road, and we actually spotted and elephant and lots of monkeys. The food at Spice Village is GREAT! and the rooms are very charming.

A wonderful resort. It really does have a village feel which gives you the sense of an oasis. The difference maker though was the staff, especially the guides. Highlight was the border walk in Periyar National park and trip to spice village. Will definitely return

A high quality resort with great proximity to the Thekkady check post. Staff were super friendly and helpful through out, their evening programs were also great. Food, you’ll love regardless of your nationality, worth visiting again.

Amazing hotel. Clean and nicely furnished rooms. Exceptional service. Amazing activities provided by hotel. Great bar with excellent bartender. Grounds are impeccable and the attention to green initiatives is impressive. We had issues with many hotels in Kerala and our stay here was just amazing from every perspective

One night stay to experience the Periyar reserve close by. Our room was enormous and located near the very back of the property. Sadly building works are directly next to the property so we heard angle grinding. Mgr tried to stop them but only the rain did. Staff amazing. Food delicious. Great cocktails and beers. Breakfast sumptuous! Many many options to choose. Lovely hotel with nature every where. Peaceful (mostly) oasis. We did the Nature walk. Some confusion over timings etc meant we were late back but the hotel held breakfast for us. Note if you are doing the walk wear long trousers and ideally walking boots or trekking sandals. Brilliant experience with Betsy our guide.

A magical oasis in the middle of Thekaddy. The staff are so friendly and the rooms are amazing - separate cottages scattered around the grounds. A generous breakfast and buffet dinner are available and there are some free activities too, including a cooking demo with an introduction to spices. Definitely recommended!

Great ambience at the property with full, on point back to nature feel. Staff was very courteous and helpful. The spread and quality of food served, especially the home made pickles and spreads, was awesome. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the artist playing the Saraswati Veena. The efforts made to reduce carbon footprint were very obvious and greatly commendable.

Very nice village, with nice bungalow style rooms, and helpful and attentive staff. But the food is horrible. There was a dinner buffet with dozen types of food but not single one of them was tasty. We came after we visited CGH kochi that was amazing and had a lot of expectations so we were a bit disappointed.
