Always like this place for location and staff

Room 218. The mattress was old. Soft. I could feel the springs in my back.

The setting is fabulous how ever the hotel is slightly shabby and the rooms and bathrooms need up grading

The bathroom had mold round the tiles and the shower was over the bath - not good if you are elderly.

Awful customer service! On arrival the bed was so soft like an old mattress soft! I went to the reception and asked about the beds and if there was another option as I suffer with a bad back. The receptionist was quite rude and just slid a customer resolution card to me saying no complain to here! Dinner already so during our dinner I was shocked when they said becareful as the plate is hot! Now if the plate is hot I expect the food to be hot! It was not! Food wasn’t great quality more like microwaved and served up! Not impressed Drinks we were quite impressed with their cocktail menu we looked before we went yet the bar was packed with loud football fans it was more like a Manchester city centre pub after a football game rather than a 4* hotel in cheshire! I spoke with staff and asked if this was normal. They said yes every time there is a sporting event they get a deal. It was so loud not relaxing at all. We ended up back in our room earlier than planned due to the way the evening had gone. Then we had to contend with people and children being loud and banging. Breakfast was a shambles trying to get the basic of milk they just didn’t have the basics right. The spa was overbooked in my opinion things weren’t working. I’m so shocked and when I did a complaint they offered me 15% off a return visit! I would not pay them any more money ever it’s just shocking!

Supposed to be a 60th birthday treat - this is a very well worn shabby hotel definitely in need of a refurb. We went to it as a spa weekend which was no chill by far - our first day we found that the treatments we had booked were not we what we booked & were offered totally different on arrival - although they did sort it eventually. The 1/2 day slot allocated to use the spa is not enough for the money although after our experience of the black mildew dirt around the jacuzzi & pool totally put us off. Along with the noise of the workmens drills, saws & dust doing the sauna - surely this should of been done when it was closed!!! The floor in the spa was wet felt really dirty all in all not a relaxed experience. The outdoor pool had tiles falling off the outside wall with an attempt to mend with tape !!! Some one was lazy and hadn't even bothered to light the wood burner on our 2nd day in the Teranium. The only thing we used was the outdoor pool which was a lot of money to sit in a hot bath!!!! The hotel interior corridors etc are very worn paintwork carpets etc - mildew on windows as was our bedroom window also. Our bedroom furniture was shabby scuffed and scratched - one light had a broken missing dome to just bare lightbulbs - hook missing off bathroom wall - large shower didn't work. Breakfast fruit was very hit & miss and each time I went to get a yoghurt nobody had put new stock out - same with the pastries. We were hoping this hotel was going to be a great experience so that we could come back with couples & Do a spa golf weekend - that won't be happening - definitely not worth the money - whilst I was complaining at reception so was another person - so that says alot - as I said to the receptionist I can echo all her complaints!!! As she said Also it is definitely not a **** 4 star hotel.......... Very over priced !!!!!!

Been here several times. Cannot fault it. Beautiful place, fantastic food, staff cannot do enough gor you. 1st class all the way. I will be back soon.
