Wyndham Beijing North

Preislich ok aber Austattung etwas betagt und Sauberkeit im Bad verbesserungswürdig. Personal aber sehr bemüht und auch mit Englisch war die Kommunikation möglich. Publikum ist weit überwiegend Chinesisch. Zum Frühstück wurde frisch gepresster Orangen geboten und das Buffet ist umfangreich wenn auch nicht durchgängig lecker. Insgesamt aber alles dem Preis angemessen

This hotel is basically in the middle of nowhere from a tourist point of view. Travel agents fault for selecting it so I'm not blaming the hotel for that. This property is somewhat dated and is showing it's age. As a group we required ten rooms. At least two of the parties changed rooms due to the rooms not being properly cleaned. The WIFI for all intents and purposes did not work or when it did it was so slow that it was useless. Service in the lounge was pathetic despite the best efforts of the young man working there. A bit of a language barrier that can be overcome using the App on the servers phone, however, this poor fellow was obviously short of training. No table service in the lounge but they still add a 15% service charge to the drinks that you have to go to the bar to order. No Tonic water for two days, ran out of the "house" Happy Hour red wine and other assorted issues. The lack of training was not limited to the bar area either. I would guess fully 25% of the staff I encountered had "trainee" on their name tag. Don't know how to account for this but I will say I didn't see anybody providing any training either. Honestly a lot of the staff was thrown to the wolves with little or no training, or so it seemed. We were a group of twenty people and had a bus take us on tour everyday which helped with the lack of amenities close by. Had I been on my own I would have changed hotels for sure.

The hotel is at least one hour out of Beijing. The immediate area is clean and well looked after, further down the street is a very shanty town area where you would not buy any food to eat. The hotel was very good, a big breakfast room for tour groups serving a good selection of western and Chinese food. Another breakfast area where you can pay for your meals. A nice little gift shop, ATM machine. The rooms were comfortable, nice beds and pillows. Could not fault this hotel.

PROS - This hotel looks impressive from the outside and into the lobby. Nice public areas. Front desk staff were friendly. Spa was well equipped with great pool. Rooms were nice although a little dated. Clean. Beds were comfortable. Happy Hour in the bar with entertainment. CON - Shower drains did back up and did smell (we were on the first floor) The included breakfast was disappointing. Coffee like dish water. (tea was good though). Limited selections like fruit and meats. Not very appetizing. However enough to get you through the day. Location is definitely out of the way with very limited access to restaurants and shopping if your without a vehicle.

I know that hotels in China have in general problems to find English speaking staff, but in none of the hotels I visited this trip was it as bad as in Wyndham. Here you get the clear impression that the management does not want to hire qualified staff. At the bar, which could be quite nice were working trainees who have no idea at all about drinks. Asking for Gin you here NO NOT HAVE and behind you see 3 different brands. But for them is Gordon not a Gin in is Gordon :) later I learned that they are trainees but they have no trainer. Learning by doing on the hard way. At a Wyndham location I would not expect that - that was my first bad experience at this brand. Also the hotel should consider to exchange the musicians - the have an extreme limited repertoire and sometimes the lady's voice can be pretty painful. Also food offered for breakfast lacks in quality and variety compared to other chinese hotels in the same category.

Stayed at this hotel with family of 4. We got two rooms. Hotel is clean rooms are also clean. The only part I didn’t like is the bathroom smelled really bad. Breakfast was included with lots of Chinese food I didn’t understand. I stuck with fried eggs and fruits.

I’ll start with the HOWEVER - the hotel is NOT NEAR downtown. Thats IT! The hotel is beautiful. The room is beautiful. The bedding and pillows are FLUFFY. The room: Spacious. Clean. Bright. And check out the view. (We are on a guided tour - I hope all the hotels are a great as this one). Safe and Happy Travels!

Good stay for my business trip. Very helpful front desk. Cash exchange machine behind reception came in useful when my UK debit cards didn’t work. Amex was fine. Local cash always best for the taxis.
