Malmaison Manchester

The hotel was in a great location, just steps away from the station, and check-in was quick and easy. The in-room coffees and teas were a nice touch. Unfortunately, the room itself could use an update. There was noticeable wear and tear - a large stain on the headboard, some mould in the bath sealant, and a layer of dust on lamps, sideboards, and other surfaces. Because of this, it didn’t quite have the “luxury” feel advertised. That said, it was very convenient for travel and would be perfectly fine for a standard leisure stay. I’d just keep these points in mind if you’re planning a romantic trip. On a positive note, the bathroom was spotless overall, aside from the sealant mould, which seemed to be set in

We often visit the Mal Maison in Manchester - often to have a post-show cocktail or two before grabbing a train home and sometimes to stay. Last night we were rescued by Hannah and Ben, at the Mal Maison bar, when our train had been cancelled and replaced by a bus! We received a warm welcome and extremely welcome cocktails! They were excellent drinks. Plus Ben, in a very diplomatic and quiet way, managed a rather uncooperative and unwelcome guest at the bar which allowed our evening to continue nicely. We discovered, whilst chatting at the bar with other guests, a lot in common and what we had intended to be a quick drink resulted in a longer stay. On the way home, in our Uber, we reflected on our evening. The show (Miss Saigon) was fantastic. The bar team in the Mal Maison likewise and they made sure that Transport for Wales didn’t spoil our evening with their train cancellations and nowhere to be seen buses!

Great location, the rooms are beautiful and clean, the restaurant's food and bar is really nice. The public areas are beautifully decorated, the staff were great. I would highly recommend and definitely return here for future trips to Manchester.

Max was fab in our cocktail class! Very accommodating and friendly and didn’t rush the experience. We would recommend 100%! :)

I booked this trip for my parents, uncle and I to celebrate my mam's 60th birthday. Unfortunately I became unwell and could no longer go. My parents enjoyed their stay at the hotel. They said it was pretty clean and comfortable, and they especially enjoyed the bar. The said the bar staff were brilliant and couldn't have been more helpful. However, what is letting this hotel down is customer service. As I couldn't attend but was concerned about using the app to cancel when we still needed two other rooms, I spoke with a Hotels.com chat agent who tried to contact the hotel on my behalf but couldn't get a response. I also wanted to arrange something special in the room for my mam's arrival and had used the app at time of booking to ask what was available. I never got a response via the app so a few days before the trip I emailed the hotel directly. Responses back and forth took so long that in the end they weren't able to set anything up as by this point it was check in day and I was told balloons were arranged via a third party. I asked if there was anything at all that could be done to make her stay extra special while she was there as it was a 2 night trip, and they completely stopped responding. Have heard nothing since and was unable to make the stay special for her birthday. This would put me off staying again in case I needed customer service support.

Staff were lovely but the room was dated We where on the 5th floor but the noise outside was terrible

Beautiful stay

I've previously stayed at the Malmaison in York which I loved however, the cleanliness of this hotel was not to the standard I'd expect. There were little crumbs/dust in the nooks and crannies of the room e.g. the ridge of the desk, around the bathroom mirror that suggested the room hadn't been deep cleaned in a long time and the curtains/nets were stained. I know some people won't have a problem as long as the main surfaces/ bathroom are clean but it was a big no for me. Service was fine, reception staff were friendly. It can get a bit rowdy in the surrounding area at night, but that's central Manchester for you. I wouldn't stay there again, especially for the price I'd expect better.
