The location is amazing, the staff are super friendly, the room was nice, decor lovely, swimming pool was great, tea making facilities, superb, breakfast really good

the room wasn't the cleanest, corners in the bathroom had hair and dust, the table in the lounges undershelf was coveres with dust, and the carpet is in serious need of cleaning not only in the room, but throughout, need a bit of investment, if they want to keep charging these prices, at this don't get me wrong, it was a lovely stay in a nice place, would I go back, don't know, probably not that the price charged, ....a couple of other odd things...i went to reception to ask to heat some milk, our own milk for our toddlers bed time...they said no problem pop through to the bar, which I did, the barman/waiter took the milk and then came back to say the chef didn't want to put it in his microwave as it was an industrial one and gave me a very small water bath to put the bottle in...whilst standing next to a steam wand on thier very nice espresso machine ...i have a 2kw buffalo microwave at home...10 secs and done...the other thing..at breakfast ..the waiter seated us and asked if we wanted any tea/coffee...my partner didn't want anything, I asked for a double espresso, my usual breakfast drink, which was served and was good coffee, enjoyed our breakfast..on check out I was a little bit surprised to be charged £6 for the coffee, I paid without question, I would have got one from a coffee shop if I hadn't of had one there, but at the price charged here, in a 4 star luxury hotel, I was just left bemused that a charge was made for an espresso, not something that's ever happened to me before ever...weird..but

Externally the building and grounds needed refurbished

The staff was extremely welcoming from check-in, and very attentive throughout - even after we left!! I chose this hotel as a relaxing pitstop during our road trip around the country and also to spend my girlfriend's birthday, the staff was mindful of that, made sure we got the best window seat for all meals and also went above and beyond to make sure we experienced some of the food we were inquiring about.Thank you, we loved it and are only sad we only stayed one night, will want to return!

There were some signs of aging and lack of maintenance in some bits and pieces here and there, in and out of the room. And although the whole hotel takes you on a pleasant trip back in time, for the price you're paying, these things need to be sorted out eventually. Also, I had previously communicated with the hotel that we would be celebrating my girlfriend's birthday there, and although we did have a nice welcome sweets board in the room, it would have been a nice gesture to have had a cold bottle of wine or prosecco waiting for us on arrival. None of these made our experience less lovely and recommendable!

Excellent location, we had fun in the pool after a long drive. Staff was very nice and the breakfast was excellent. Truly recommended
