Exceptional value for the money. I stayed one night for a layover and loved everything about this hotel: spotless clean, friendly staff, great breakfast buffet. I would love to come back on the next trip.

Not much

We started the stay not really great, we arrived and no room was available. We waited for few hours in the lobby, they didn't even offer a glass of water during the wait. When finally the room was ready it smelled of urine and smoke ( i booked a non smoking room). They asked us to wait while they prepare a new room, 4 hours later they called to inform us the room was still not ready. When finally they scrambled to find an alternative the new room had a horrible smoke smell again. We settled for whatever room was available after wasting a full day of our trip. Breakfast was passable, with the lady at the entrance being quite aggressive and unfriendly. The rooms are tired and the bathroom has seen better days. The location is a bit far from town, the hotel is above the tube, but it is still taking quite some time to reach touristic places. This is by far the worst Shangri-la i stayed at, i would definitely not recommend this place.

I have stayed in this hotel more than once as the location is unbeatable, with the metro Line #1 located right below the hotel/mall. We have a young child and chose the Horizon Club room so we could access the lounge without having to jostle with the crowd for breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. It was wonderful. The lounge service was very good and Milly was very patient with our child, making her the babycino for each meal. Philip the manager was very friendly and chatting with us and recommending some touristy places we could go with the child. Food choices are mostly catered to the local guests but that was not an issue for us. All in all, we felt very welcomed at the lounge. Special mention of Jack at the concierge who was very helpful in booking a car for our trip to the Great wall and the acrobatic show. It was a lovely stay.

Location was perfect!!!

Highly disappointing service. Nothing was explained at check-in, and the reception staff refused to answer any questions. Housekeeping repeatedly barged into the room despite 'do not disturb' requests and even left piles of dirty laundry in the hallway right in the room — something I’ve never seen even in third countries. In the restaurant, the waiters either ignored us or brought the wrong orders. As a result, the cost of the stay ended up being nearly three times higher, and the services I was interested in — and would have gladly paid extra for — simply weren’t provided.

My mom and I enjoyed the hotel very much. The architecture and window views are amazing. This was our first time in Beijing. The location is very convenient. The staff is very helpful too.
