We frequently stay at the Vic Inn and while our room was the as per usual the common area, especially pool were terribly unkept. I understand the hotel is busy right now but the dirty standing water and literal filth all over the pool deck was nothing short of disgusting. The little play area at the restaurant was no better. Garbage, dirty towels and food crumbs all over it. Maybe need to hire extra environmental staff instead of the multiple security guards that do not seem to be doing much of anything. I warned four of them that were standing around on their phones that there appeared to be a person heavily under the influence of some type of drugs in the hot tub and they basically shrugged their shoulders at me. And not sure that anything was actually done. All that said we will probably return but maybe once we know it’s better to do so.

The room was nice and clean and I felt safe while in the room. It was close to the hospital. The pool looked nice. The hotel design is unique. The front lobby was appealing. My son had major jaw surgery on Friday. The staff at front reception were very good and checked in by text that we were ok. I appreciated that. It made a difference. I was concerned for the staff as well.

I was shocked on arrival to see so many people loitering around outside at night it was late after 10 pm when we got there and some appeared intoxicated. I was afraid to go inside to check in the first night. We even checked out a couple of other hotels even if we would be out money, but they were full due to the wildfire evacuees. We had no where else to go so we did go back to stay. It was late and we had to be at the hospital by 7:45 am. I felt uneasy as groups of people or just one drinking or on drugs can be unpredictable. I realize this is not the hotels fault. They had lots of security but that is the whole point that shouldn't be necessary but it was. I had security escort me to my car at one point. I was there 2 nights and saw police each night and an ambulance. It leaves a bad impression and does not relieve my stress concern for my son having major surgery. It was hard to relax. I had to remain on guard for my safety.
