Microtel Inn by Wyndham Charlotte/University Place

My overall experience was not too bad for a one night stay . Checking in and out was fine. The hotel’s location was in a decent spot. The Staff was friendly. Now,I would say the place really does need to renovate and remodel as soon as they can . Outside of the building looked very dingy . Inside was just as bad. There was a bad smell that lingered throughout the hallway's . The rooms were not appealing at all , wall paint was chipped and discolored, the bathroom was just as bad but the water was nice and hot.

Not what I expected

Property is outdated rooms.There was doors missing locks or completely busted out. The microwave didn't work, my window was cracked, Hallway reeked of bad odor.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel numerous times coming to Charlotte for concerts. However, not sure what happened but I have never been more disappointed in a hotel. The place was so run down. It was dirty, smelly and things in the room were missing or broken. You would never have known this was part of the microtel family. So sad!

I chose this hotel specifically because it is a Wyndham property, and I trusted the Wyndham name to provide a clean, safe, and comfortable stay. Unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory due to several serious issues: Cleanliness: The room was dirty, rundown, and smelly. The carpets were worn and stained, the bathroom was unclean and falling apart, and there were holes in the walls. The light bulbs were not all working, and the doors and walls had accumulated dirt from years of handling. The duvet covers on the beds appeared to have never been cleaned. Odor: The entire hotel, including the hallways and rooms, smelled strongly of cigarettes. Noise: There was loud music playing in an adjacent room, and what sounded like a loud machine, possibly a skill saw, was running in the room above us at 1:30 a.m., making it impossible to sleep. Safety and Security: There were multiple sketchy individuals milling around outside, who appeared to be pimps or drug dealers. It was very hot outside, with temperatures in the high 90s, yet these individuals continued to hang around, making the environment feel unsafe. Staff Appearance and Conduct: The front desk staff was underdressed and looked dirty. The entrance to the hotel was also rundown and dirty. General Condition: The overall condition of the hotel was the worst I have ever encountered. It was disgusting and made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unsafe.

Nothing good about the place.

I had a non smoking room. But the room smoke detector was removed and the room smelled like smoke. It was nauseating and made it very difficult to sleep. The sink in the bathroom trickled water even when both hot and cold were turned all the way on making it difficult to brush my teeth and get water to take medication. I took pictures and video to document the experience.

I have never experienced a hotel nightmare. I didn’t even take the room & ask for a refund. The moment , we enter the lobby, it was straight up weed. I try to give the room the benefit of doubt. While walking up to the room, we notice the hallway was the worst thing I have ever seen. Wall full of stain, Carpet rip up, the smell. Doors without locks. We open the room, and saw blood stain all over the wall. The bed was up done. I could not take my 2 years in there with me.

Didn’t like the people hanging around and smelled liked smoke the entrance. The room was cleaned but had a smelled

Room smelled bad (mushy and urine odor), found some liquid stain died on the bathroom floor at check-in.
