St Pierre Park Hotel & Golf

We had a great Easter and it was also my birthday. It was good to have the family together particularly as we lost our second eldest son to cancer in December

The property seemed a bit run down. My room was rather old fashioned and some of the cleaning standards were not too good. My ‘balcony’ was tiny with barely room for one chair and table. It was virtually impossible to use. The restaurant being used lacked character, food choice was very limited and unimaginative, more like pub food and setting than a four star hotel. Breakfast options were extensive but the hot buffet was bland, except the bacon which was rock hard and too salty. I tried the crushed avocado option but it was the worst version I have ever had and the ‘sourdough’ bread likewise. Coffee was awful. The whole breakfast experience was very Covid insecure. The grounds were lovely but tatty in places and the crazy golf was unusable. The gym, pool and sauna were great. Staff generally were pleasant and attentive. Mind you the appearance of the ‘head waiter’ at breakfast was disgraceful. Tie undone, scruffy suit and hair, shirt looked in-ironed. Not really what you expect in this standard of hotel.

Customer service was excellent, particularly in the breakfast restaurant. Staff very attentive. Location really good for strolling into, & back from St Peter Port. Standard of cleanliness super. Room & beds lovely & comfortable

We had a problem with the room initially but for the second night it was sorted out efficiently. Just be aware though that a twin room could mean two beds pushed together with one head board encompassing both beds. Also, there was no way of separating the beds unless you removed the bedside tables. In my view, I shouldn’t have to start moving the furniture around to be able to make the twin room that I’ve booked into an actual twin room. I dealt with the on-duty manager about this & she was extremely good at helping to address the situation. So even though I wasn’t happy to begin with, I ended up very impressed at the attention & resolution of the problem. The rooms were comfortable & clean & once the initial problem was resolved we enjoyed our stay very much.

The staff were friendly and the hotel has good amenities with tennis courts, gardens, golf course and restaurants. Unfortunately the decor is very tired, room very cramped with old fashioned oversized furniture. Breakfast was only ok, there was a man outside from around 7am with an irritatingly loud leaf blower and it was impossible to get transport into St Peter Port. Lack of available taxis is a well known issue in Guernsey and the hotel should do more to address this by having its own transport capability.

We really enjoyed our stay, staff were all helpful and friendly, great breakfast and super Spa facilities, only weird thing was connecting door between us and next door that we could open when we arrived, we put our chairs across it but was abit of a concern.

Loved my room & accessories. Loved the Health Spa The fire evacuation procedures were not clear & room not cleaned on 2nd day.

The majority of our stay was pleasing; the hotel and grounds are aesthetically pleasing and easy to navigate. The staff were helpful and the facilities were good. Unfortunately we were let down from a perfect break by a couple of minor inconveniences with our room; the extractor fan in the bathroom was broken, the shower leaked water all over the floor (covering the entire bathroom floor) and the air con in our room did not work particularly well either. Other than those issues, we were pleased with our stay.

It’s easy to leave a bad report and ignore when you’ve had a good experience. The St Pierre Park Hotel from the minute I booked had been nothing but exemplary. They contacted me straight away to inform me of what they had to offer at the hotel. On my arrival they were exceptional, they dealt with me quickly and efficiently, my room was beautiful, it was clean, tidy and very comfortable. The breakfast on all three day was also fantastic, a buffet that catered for everyone, including me on my plant based diet, offering me dairy alternatives when required. Free parking on site and easy walking distance into town. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel.
