All staff was super kind,free breakfast was out of this world… we all enjoyed the heated indoor pool. Teenagers loved the pool table, ping pong and other games in game room.outside heated walk way to hot Tub was sweet!!

Terrible - Possibly the Worst Hotel Experience of My Life – Avoid at All Costs Stoweflake Mountain Resort & Spa – Stowe, VT - the spa closed a long time ago! As someone who has skied Vermont for over 35 years and fly-fished these rivers since I was a teenager, I've stayed at dozens of lodges and resorts across the state. Stoweflake used to be the gold standard—top-ranked, elegant, impeccable service, the kind of place you looked forward to every winter. What I experienced in December 2025 and Jan 1st 2026 was an absolute disgrace. This property has fallen so far it's unrecognizable, and frankly, Jamsan Management should be ashamed of themselves. I witnessed five different liabilities going to happen and this place will be closed in due time. First, the room heat. The in-room heating system was not just broken—it was actively dangerous. The unit made a terrifying electrical buzzing/humming sound all night, smelled like burning plastic, and at one point the metal grille became so hot I could hear the paint blistering. I was afraid to sleep with it on, but with no heat at all the room dropped (-4 outside) Called the front desk multiple times—no answer. This is not a minor inconvenience; this is a fire/electrocution hazard. I cannot believe they let guests stay in rooms with systems in this condition. 🔥 somebody will get burned and fall on them. I have a young son so before warned. It’s not worth it. Then came the water issue. Around 7:30 a.m. on our second day, zero water bottles. Not low—zero. some of the vending machines worked half the time but for Pepsi and caffeine related related drinks not great for a young son or a very angry wife. No communication from management, no apology, no offer of even a bottle of water. When I finally got someone on the phone, the response was essentially "Yeah, it happens sometimes” Breakfast? What breakfast? The rest of the stay was a parade of neglect: filthy carpets, pool is joke, in the hallways, mold in the bathroom grout, broken light fixtures, staff who seemed completely defeated and/or indifferent. The once-beautiful spa was half-shuttered, the pool area felt like a ghost town, and the "mountain resort" atmosphere has been replaced with a sad, dated corporate chain vibe. This is not the Stoweflake I remember from the 90s and early 2000s. It is a shadow of its former self, and the current ownership appears to have zero interest in maintaining even basic safety standards or guest comfort. I sincerely hope this place gets sold again soon, new owners come in, and they actually invest in bringing it back to life. Until then, I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone—skiers, families, couples, nobody. If the “new” ownership is reading this: you should be embarrassed. There are real safety issues here (especially the manual heating systems) that could easily lead to lawsuits. Fix it or sell it. In its current state, it's a disgrace to Stowe and to Vermont hospitality. Finally, i’ve dWould not stay again. Would actively warn others against it.

This review is a special shoutout to Krystina Hedger, the head of the front desk at Stoweflake; we had a reservation earlier this week that we had to cancel last minute due to a bad car accident en route to the property. Krystina jumped in and not only assured us that she would refund our cancellation fee due to circumstances out of our control, but she also went above and beyond to contact booking.com directly on her own to ensure that they received official approval and could refund us our fees. She was incredibly responsive over the course of the last few days and I couldn’t have been more impressed with her kindness and sensitivity to our situation. We will definitely be staying at the Stoweflake the next time we’re in Stowe and I would highly recommend it to all as their staff is incredibly professional and kind. Thank you, Krystina! You deserve a raise!

Please avoid this place they are absolutely the worst. Charge full price 10 days before arrival and refuse to apply quoted discount at check in. The desk clerk was completely incompetant, and the manager was just plain rude! Ended up staying elsewhere!!

The best part about the Stoweflake is the location! It's right off the Stowe Recreation trail , next door to the Pinnacle Ski Shop, across the street from a bunch of good restaurants, and easy right turn to the mountain during busy mornings.
