"Great view, but next time will stay in the cabins."

8.0

My husband and I came to Sedona, for a conference I was attending. We’d last stayed here 10 years ago. When booking the room, they showed a new “Eco-Rooms” that were advertised as 500 feet from the main lodge. What they don’t tell you is that 500 feet is vertical up 180 steps (yes we counted). They’ve taken an old motel and renovated it. The rooms are comfortable. The hi-lights are the beautiful views of the red rocks, Illy espresso machines, very comfortable robe and slippers. The rooms are pretty small and decorated with furniture and fixtures for a $500-$600 a night room, not a $900 a night room. And not your typical L’Auberge property. After 3 days of taking the long trek to breakfast in the morning our lovely valet, Marlon, showed us the lounge in our building that had a coffee machine, and snacks! We had no idea this was in our building as we weren’t told at check-in. So I spent $60 a day in the restaurant each day and could have had the same breakfast for free. The coffee/cappuccino in the lounge was much better than in the restaurant. For 3 days we had un-drinkable coffee/cappuccino we were hopeful each day it would get better….. it didn’t. So breakfast you could skip, however dinner at Cress was great! I’d say the best meal we had in Sedona. The menu is creative, with very fresh meat and produce. The NY steak was awesome. Also, the bar was great. Patrick took good care of us and mixed a great “paper plane”. Also, Christian took great care of us at the pool and the carne asada tacos were good. Overall we did have a nice stay. I’d suggest to stay in the lodges over the cliff rooms. Make reservations for all your meals. We saw so many people complaining at those poor hosts when they couldn’t get seated. I’m an AZ native and have visited Sedona many times, it’s still a small country town now with so many visitors that I understand it’s tough to get help. They could use more help in the restaurants and at the pool.

Food is expensive and I had to send back the fois grois it was rancid . Service in the bar was seriously like pulling teeth. Very nice facilities but need more staff . Everyone in the valet and concierge was exceptional.

"Bitter Disappointment."

2.0

A bitterly disappointing experience for a place that represents itself as an exclusive luxury resort. We stayed at The Cliffs - newly opened rooms located at the top of the resort which is located in a canyon, maybe a hundred or so steps but a significant and steep descent/ascent whenever you want to access most of the resort's facilities including the restaurant which is at the bottom. Frankly The Cliffs rooms are little more than glorified motel rooms that feel distinctly second class and utterly disconnected to the rest of the resort; nothing invited us to partake in the life of the resort and we felt excluded due to being so far from its centre and the lack of communication with staff, and as a result enjoyed little of what the place has to offer. Our arrival after a long drive set the tone for our stay. After driving through the admittedly inviting gates into the resort our hopes were high but upon reaching reception and being told that no food could be offered (it was 7.15 pm) and told we needed to turn around, leave the resort, and find a car park back up on the main street before encountering a valet who seemed surprised we expected help lifting our bags up a set of stairs to the room, our hearts sank. Little got better inside the room - newly decorated and with reasonable facilities, nevertheless the room has little character or warmth and could be anywhere. Given the lack of dining options that night we were forced to grab a cheap and rushed meal at a casual diner nearby before retiring. We were woken early by the sound of delivery trucks unloading in the adjoining carpark. The rooms open directly onto this carpark with no attempt at screening. However, the view from the balcony in the morning, which is unquestionably stunning (but not unique to this resort), although the balcony furniture is cheap and uncomfortable, revived our spirits and we braved the descent into the canyon for breakfast. The service was, however, slow and chaotic. On returning to our room having failed to work out how or if we could use the limo service, that had not been explained properly when we checked in, to ferry us up and down the hill that night, we later walked down to the fine-dining restaurant which is far from perfect when dressed for dinner. The fine-dining option offers outside and indoor seating. Outside looks great, located by the creek that runs through the resort, but if you are sat inside the restaurant the ambience of the place is underwhelming. The staff are ok, the food just about ok but hideously over-priced. The walk back up the hill did little to improve our mood, nor did the fact that while we were away a couple of RVs had parked up close to our room and were busy organising themselves for the night. The next morning as well as the trucks again unloading early, we were greeted by a pool of vomit in the car park, near the public toilet that is also close to the rooms. Out of their control maybe, but whether it's their fault or not it seriously degrades the experience. Our final interaction was with Agave 89 which is a decent casual dining restaurant located outside the resort but convenient for the Cliffs, although it is mildly chaotic and difficult to get a reservation at. Here, we were informed room service could be ordered from Agave 89 by one of the waiters; no-one had told us this and there is no menu in the room but it would have really helped on our first night. We didn't try the spa or the new pool and bar, closer to The Cliffs, because frankly we didn't want to spend anymore money at the resort and in the case of the pool it was a little too cold to sunbathe. In summary, the location of the Cliffs makes it hard to feel in anyway part of the resort and I think this is reflected, maybe subconsciously in some cases, in the slightly distant behaviour of the staff. You never see anyone other than maids at The Cliffs and there was no attempt at communication with us at any point during our stay not even a welcome note or quick call to ask if everything was ok. When we did interact with staff, they were fine just a little confused in some cases - we never figured out the limo service as we got conflicting advice. This place advertises itself as an exclusive resort and maybe the lower levels are, but The Cliffs need a lot of work to make them feel properly part of the resort, and frankly at this stage to offer them at anything than a substantial discount to the rest of the resort is very poor.

"Disappointing Visit"

4.0

I had been really looking forward to my spa day at Lauberge to celebrate my 40th birthday, but unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. When I booked my appointment, I clearly agreed to a 9:30 a.m. start time. However, I never received a confirmation email. On the morning of my appointment, I received a call at 9:00 a.m. telling me I was late. I was confused and explained that I had booked for 9:30, but the receptionist insisted there was no mistake and offered no solution. As a result, I was treated as if I were 30 minutes late to a 90-minute massage, which significantly cut into my service time. Later, I found out the confirmation email had been sent to my mother (who had a separate booking), so the mix-up appears to have been on their end. Despite that, there was no effort to accommodate or correct the situation. To make matters worse, at checkout we were charged incorrectly—my mother was billed for my services and I was billed for hers—adding more confusion and frustration. The overall service quality did not meet expectations for a luxury spa. The massage room was uncomfortably cold, making it difficult to relax, and even the masseuse’s hands were cold. My mother experienced the same issue in the same room. Additionally, parts of the facial service were skipped entirely, despite being described as included. Instead of feeling relaxed and celebrated on my birthday, I left feeling stressed and disappointed. It was not worth what I spent which was close to $1000. I reached out afterward to give the spa an opportunity to address these issues, but I never received a response. Given the reputation and pricing of this spa, I expected a much higher level of professionalism, communication, and overall experience. Unfortunately, this was far from it. Save some money and go to The Wilde Resort and Spa. Better prices and service.

"Lovely Sedona getaway"

8.0

Overall the experience was very good. Housekeeping and valet staff went above and beyond. The property is odd in that it is split into the Cliffside rooms, which are almost street level with town and the rooms/cottages closer to the creek and spa. The one negative was that garbage bins in public spaces were not regularly emptied. The bin at the front desk was full at 6:30 in the morning. The front desk staff apologized, but it was an unsightly blemish on a nice stay.

"Perfect location"

10.0

Perfect location with easy access to restaurants and shops. The views from the resort are breathtaking. The room locations vary between cozy cottages alongside a creek or perched high overlooking the property. I find it difficult to decide which is better. We loved the smaller size of the hotel and the more personalized service. With the friendly nature of the staff, everything was easy and contributed to making our stay extremely relaxing. Every aspect of service was outstanding from front desk, bar/restaurant, housekeeping and valet drivers.

"Poor Customer Service & Spa Experience"

2.0

We enjoyed our room and view however the customer service was terrible. I started calling 1.5 weeks before our stay to book a spa treatment. I called several times with no call back. Then we we arrived, I messaged the front desk to see if they could help. They contact the spa and asked them to contact me. I did this 3 more times. Then finally walked down to the spa to be told they are fully booked but knew my name since I contacted them many times. It was a major disappointment since I came for a spa and wellness vacation.

"L'Auberge de Sedona has gone downhill"

4.0

We loved the previous version of this hotel. We have stayed several times in the past, but unfortunately will not stay again. The hotel's expansion seems to have overwhelmed the hotel. Everything was difficult about the stay. Check in line was long and full of people complaining about issues. Parking was challenging, from the check in process to moving car to Cliffs entrance in traffic. Cliffs rooms were very nice with beautiful view, but the rusty railing seemed a little precarious, and website should warn about long trek to rest of resort. The climb was fine for us but I can see how some may find challenging. Room service to the Cliffs rooms presentation is terrible, like a DoorDash delivery, not what you expect from 5 star resort. The lounge at the Cliffs experienced a water leak of coffee machine and it was left a huge mess. The areas of the hotel that we appreciated were gone, charm removed from the restaurant, lobby and lodge. It used to feel so rustic yet upscale. Now it seems very generic, everything just got a coat of white paint but removed the charm from it. It is very disappointing to see the transformation. The only standout pluses were the concierge for hiking advice and the new pool at Cliffs is very nice with gorgeous views.
