Barceló Karmina - All Inclusive

It’s a good place to go with the family. There haré too many activities. The food is so good. The personal are great. Good service.

We booked Premium but unfortunately did not receive a premium experience. When we arrived, the premium office was closed, so we had to wait in the regular front desk line. There was no greeting and no welcome drinks, as the lobby bar was also closed. Throughout the stay, whenever we tried to make reservations, we were repeatedly told to go wait in line with everyone else at the concierge because no one was working in office. By day three, after expressing frustration, someone finally met me in the premium lobby but this was the only time I ever saw anyone at the desk all week. The room was missing items that were advertised with the premium package — there was no tequila or champagne delivered to room after check in, and the child welcome gift was never provided. I was injured during our stay, and it took over 40 minutes to get a wheelchair. My husband was told staff were “really busy,” and he ended up running around himself to get ice. I was made to feel like an inconvenience despite my foot being severely swollen. On a positive note, the waitstaff was excellent. Israel and Dulce at breakfast were wonderful, and Axo (sp?) at the Japanese restaurant provided great service. The food overall was probably the best we’ve had at any Barcelo resort, though we did wish there were more restaurant options. The grounds are beautiful, but the pool and chair areas did not appear to be hosed down daily, and there were quite a lot of ants. Overall, there were some standout positives, especially the food and waitstaff, but the premium service and guest care fell far short of expectations.

The resort is beautiful, lots of pools and lots of loungers available. Beach area is safe and a good place for families with kids. Service is friendly, not much English speaking, but we managed. We only went to a couple shows, they are typical resort shows. Rooms are dated but clean and spacious. Don’t bother with premium level, doesn’t get you much. Now the food, uggh, it is awful. Do not eat at the Italian à la carte, not even edible. The other 2 were ok, but not what you would expect at a so called 5 star. Buffets, are not good, food is cold and not a lot of option, same thing everyday. Best bet is the tacos at the beach snack bar. For a Barcelo resort ( we have stayed at many in other locations), we expected a much higher quality of food. For the food quality alone we would not return.

Me tocó que me sirvieran en un vaso sucio, manchado de lápiz labial, se lo hice saber a la encargada del restaurante y solo me comentó que no volvería a pasar eso fue en la comida y en la cena una taza de café la verdad eso fue muy detestable ese detalle hizo mi estancia desagradable

It’s the third year in a row that me and my husband return to Barcelo Karmina in Manzanillo. It’s a nice place and employees go above and beyond to make you feel at home. I would say that their staff is one of the main reasons why I keep coming back.

We've gone to different Barcelo locations but we always make our way back to Karmina. We love the atmosphere, environment, staff engagement and attention to detail. 8 years coming here and plan to continue for generations to come. Thank you!
