Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre

Security was lacking, anyone could walk in and out of hotel and hotel grounds. Did not feel safe for cleaner to come in as the doors where left open while they cleaned a number of rooms at a time. I would not return on the basis of this

the air-con was not working and no-one attended to our many requests to sort it out. there were also rowdy neighbors who kept us awake on Saturday night - very late. the stay was terrible overall.

Most impressed with the service received at the Birchwood Hotel. Exceeded my expectation!

As an individual guest I felt that more attention was being given to conference group guests. How ever the shuttle bus drivers are excellent.. The gentleman in dreads and the big man with bald hair style.. I'm sorry I did not take their names. My room 2045 was spacious well made up and but the the carpet was not well vacuumed. The 2 beside lampshades were hanging loose, not a good thing to notice before I even put my luggage down!! And they did not work. My bathroom and amenities were OK. I enjoyed my shower very much. Good pressure and hot water!

Guests in the rooms near me qere drinking in their rooms from the afternoon. By 8pm they were blind drunk. Yelling and screaming. Three times they tried to break into my room. I was affraid to ask them to calm down myself, so I called reception for help, no one came. How security didnt hear all the noise is very strange. Eventually I pushed the chair and bed against the door incase they forced the door open. The chaos stopped at around 4.30am.

Flexibility of the service provision, friendly staff, helpful and safety of clients while on hotel premises superb.

Terrible place!!! The only good thing is that we had someone driving us on a golf cart in the rain. Arrived at 9pm ate dinner and went to the room at 10pm. (We had to wake up at 4am for a flight). First room was not cleaned from the previous people and had a bloody tampon on the floor. We were then moved & multiple rooms were having a party but uncontrollably as doors were being banged and shouting and screaming. We were told security can not stop it and only thing we can do is move again in the rain late at night. The final room was quite and clean so we finally got to bed even though the aircon is 100yrs old and makes a noise. We managed 4hrs of sleep. Security at the gate told us this happens all the time and they well aware of the parties and they move people all the time as they wont mess with their high end paying clients so all other guests must suffer. I will never go here again and I will never recommend this place but i will shame it in any possible way or form

The check in was pathetic. No-one knew what they were doing. Directions to our room were confusing. The rooms didn't have towels in them. The BC Cafe was terribly noisy. The staff in the BC Cafe were slow and we had to look for them. Very limited bar stock available. Overall not a very pleasant stay at all

I love the fast internet! It's the best wifi I've had in all of south africa. I like the large property with a number of restaurant options and beautiful outdoor spaces.
