Bernardus Lodge & Spa

Excellent well appointed villas, some with fireplaces, kitchenettes and large, furnished patios. Friendly employees, good food and lovely grounds. Highly recommend! Villa del Sol #75 was particularly nice!

My wife and I stayed at Bernardus Lodge and Spa for one night to celebrate our anniversary, and they genuinely made it feel special. From the moment we checked in, the staff treated us with real warmth. They even surprised us with a handwritten card signed by the team, which was such a thoughtful touch and something we’ll actually keep. The property feels quiet and tucked away, but still warm and welcoming the moment you arrive. Everything felt easy and relaxed. Our room was spotless and had that calm, soft atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer. The bed was incredible, the fireplace felt perfect in the evening, and the whole space smelled fresh, not overly scented. We had a couples massage at the spa and it was honestly one of the better spa experiences we’ve had. The therapists knew what they were doing and the whole place felt peaceful instead of crowded or rushed. Even though we were only there for one night, it felt like a full reset. We left wishing we had booked two or three nights instead. Bernardus really is one of those places that gets all the small details right. Highly recommend it.

We had a great stay the Bernardus. The cocktails are amazing at the bar. We love hanging out in the infinity edge hot tub with some wine. And the hiking around Carmel Valley and Bug Sur is world class!

Beautiful and comfortable

My wife and I took advantage of a couple of nights we had to ourselves while our daughter was off to a school trip and booked a spur of the moment two-night stay at Bernardus. We've been going to Benardus for over a decade now, mostly for special occasions, but this was mean to be just a low-key visit to disconnect a bit and recharge our batteries... Well, we were reminded again that the team at Bernardus is all about making every visit special: they came through in flying colors again and treated us to two fantastic dinners at Lucia, the spa treatments and hours spent at the infinity pool were heaven-sent, walks around the property and gardens as calming as ever, and reading our books in front of the crackling outdoor fireplace by the bocce courts while sipping some wine was so peaceful. We left with our batteries fully-recharged and hearts full, with only one question on our mind: when will we be back again?

We came to Bernardus for our Wedding Anniversary. This was the fanciest place we have ever lodged in. It was everything we could hope for, and then some! The Staff was friendly and accommodating. It was so relaxing and peaceful from the moment we pulled up to the time we departed. So many special touches along the way. The food was delicious. The massages were great. My husband especially enjoyed driving the Mercedes AMG SL63. We were treated like Royalty. I haven’t been that relaxed in a long time. Most romantic getaway ever! 🥰

A major THANK YOU to Jennifer Williams of the Bernardus staff, who saved the day--and our daughter's wedding! The coastal venue we had planned for a small ceremony was literally blown away by winds. Jennifer jumped in and helped us to move our little event to the Bernardus flower garden. Bride, groom and family members were thrilled! Words cannot express our gratitude. Great staff, rooms, food, location and experience. I would highly recommend this location for anyone that's going for business pleasure for a couples getaway

The rooms are the best I've stayed in, so well-appointed and comfortable. Highly recommend trying their suites for the added space and patio experience! Everyone on their team is so kind and very knowledgeable. We felt welcome everywhere! It was such a great anniversary trip. They had a thoughtful amenity arranged for us. Our only regret was not setting aside time for a spa treatment.

10/10 stay!! If you're looking for a relaxing, luxurious stay in the Carmel area, look no further. Every part of this stay was extraordinary, from the accommodations to the F&B to the complimentary use of the Mercedes vehicles to explore the area. Could not recommend enough times!
